Decided to finally buy the game and start playing.

Wow, I’ve never heard the fans do that loud before!

And I’ve never felt my MacBook Pro 16” get that hot.

I know it’s not meant for gaming, but I figured it would still be fine and the game wouldn’t be too taxing.

I like playing on a laptop to play in bed, or the table, big screen, etc.

Might have to buy a dedicated gaming laptop after all...

Can't say that I'm surprised, the MBP is so thin and inefficient at cooling. I mean it gets too hot just pushing an external monitor, never mind playing a game.

With that said, my fans can get loud on my Razer, though it keeps the temps in check, however I do use a egpu as that takes much of the load and fan noise is a non-issue

What are your specs and settings at?

I have a 2018 2.6 i7 15" with Vega 20 and I was surprised at how low I had to drop the settings...the best combo for quality and smoothness I could get before was windowed 1440x900 at max settings on my external monitor but it seems like things got better with the 10.15.5?

I don't know if something happened in 10.15.5 but I can at least play 2560x1440 full screen at high settings which is pleasantly surprising.

I have the base 16” Pro.

I need to double check the specs. I just know I used the highest settings available to me in the game.

I was genuinely surprised at how smooth things played.

I just didn’t like how hot it got and how fast my battery was draining.

Are you running on an external monitor? I have the i9 model with 5500M 4GB. Things were well when I first played. Now my fps drop to 20-40 after the fans start spinning. It seems like my CPU got throttled. Heading into dungeons is always less than 30 fps. I'm running on High graphic preset

If you are playing it bed, you should have it on a hard surface like a computer tray or a serving tray so the vents are not blocked, at least that’s my impression. :)
