Good afternoon.

My macbook pro is not starting. i have this message "to restart hold the power button or ... " i am holding the power button and it goes off and when i turned it on i am facing the same thing :( all i did was watching a movie and it started acting up.

i attached a picture... please help.

p.s: when it gives me this message, the screen is not clear it looks strange.

Seems you might be eligible for a free repair, make a Genius appointment and have a tech look at it. If it's the Nvidia chip it may be covered.

doesn't matter. this is a faulty card/recall issue, so they should still replace even if you don't have applecare.

My frind, I was at the apple store. they said it's the graphic card and charged me 300$. Is that make sense or i got screwd?
i was asking him if it was the chip,and he said no.

They say its the graphics card, but not the graphics chip? That doesn't make sense at all!

now i feel bad... I was expecting him to be honest.
now, i don't even have the serial #
I didn't even know that even after 3 years if its the chip it suppoused to be free.
they already have my mac :(

when you get it back, (politely) ask for a written statement accounting for exactly what was wrong and accounting for the charge. then tell us what it says and we can try and tell you if it was supposed to be free or not.

Oh by the way, do you actually have a 2008 macbook pro that has the problematic nvidia 8600 chip? I think you never told us. Also, see the link above, in the first reply.

Yes, i have got my macbook pro somewhere in 2008 ( if that's what you mean)

and, i will definitely let you know what was the problem when i will get my macbook pro back.
