I made this macrumors acount with an email adress but about 6 months ago I cancelled that account, I deleted it. How can I change the old email address with the current one that I am using so that I can receive the notifications via email.

You need to send your request and issue to us via the Contact Us link and an administrator will assist you in resolving it.
if you have access to the account, which it seems you do. Just change your email address to the new one.

The answer is in what it says. What email service is the new email that you're trying to use?
I am registered with a gmail address and never had any issues, even though it's a free email service. Odd
