Yeah the unlimited is worth it's weight in gold. Funny thing I noticed on the 2 page receipt that came with my 5S, it said "data package 2gb/$30"

Now in my "my verizon" it still says unlimited. Is this my new data plan now? It said unlimited when I pre ordered. Can anyone else verify who got in during the "glitch"?

The same thing happened to me. I think that we are safe. Did you use your old SIM card? I used the one in my 5. I think that if you activated your phone using the new one it would've started some trouble. But a simple phone call to Verizon would have fixed everything.

Well you know what, you're really lucky! Some people can't even get one right now, like here in New Zealand... At least not YET! It will become available on the 25th Oct but the chances of getting one outright on the launch day are pretty slim :(

Just use it, I'm sure you have thought about it before you bought it :)
If you want a bigger screen, an iPad mini is a pretty damn good choice ;)

Buy what you want. GSN3/GS4/HTCOne/Z1 are very capable phones. Otherwise, keep your 5S.

Brand new in the box.
Just recieved it today.
I was one of those who was able to upgrade on Verizon with the "glitch" a couple weekends ago.
Now, I'm not so sure I chose right.
I've seen what samsungs and htc's are capable of and I'm almost inclined to sell this 5S sealed and buy a GS4 or HTC one or one max.

Thoughts from you android/iOS users? I really want a bigger screen and some other inane features that apples been lacking.

if you make the switch you will be back I tried it too and the new toy factor died down after a few months

I just switched from my htc one to my 5s

Seriously, the one is probably the best android phone I ever use, everything out of the box was great, keyboard, blinkfeed, etc

But I still prefer my 5s over it, everything just runs better and snappier

Honestly I would just keep it. I had an iPhone 5 so this glitch pretty much got me a free upgrade. I received my 5s today and if I paid full price I would've been disappointed but for a free upgrade I'm thrilled.

I've ventured to the other side a few times and I've enjoyed the devices (Galaxy Nexus, Rezound, GN2) , I found myself always coming back to apple. I enjoyed rooting and flashing my android devices but at the end of the day it's all up to third party support and the truth is developers favor iOS users more than android. Not to mention that input lag on those android screens. Trust me, it's noticeable. I noticed it when I went from an iPhone 5 to a GN2.

At the end of the day the phone that I use is a phone. I want it to be able to do all of the things that I would like it to do while on the go. I want it to be comfortable to use when talking on the phone and I want it to be usable with one hand. If I want a massive screen then I'll stick to my HDTV or computer monitor (my 15" MacBook Pro isn't massive).

If I ever have a problem I want to be able to get my device replaced the SAME day. I don't want to ship my phone back to Verizon. I DISLIKE dealing with Verizon. If it weren't for my truly unlimited data I would've left a long time ago.

This wasn't a glitch and lasted almost a week so it wasn't just 1 weekened. It was a planned promo to boost 3rd QTR sales that lasted from Tuesday - Monday morning at 11am and was open again for 2 hours Monday evening

I spent three months with a GS4. Lag was not an issue and not the reason I came back to iphone.

Then you don't know (or notice) what lag is.

I swapped my 5S for my buddies new GS4 yesterday (for a few minutes) and that's the impression we BOTH had.

I have always said I'd have Android were it NOT for Apple, but it wouldn't be the SGS4.

The SGS4 may be ok, but it's LagZilla compared to the 5S. Especially during certain things (browsing those big websites on that giant screen they're so proud of, for example...)

He's returning the SGS4 and going with the 5S.

I swear I've sold more of these things just by letting fandroids spend 15 minutes playing with it lol... Kinda speaks for itself.

There will always be people who won't want to acknowledge it, but it's so blatantly obvious I'll never understand why...

That or they'll say "but you can do x, then y, then flash z and it almost goes away!" As if most users want to bother with that??? Half can't even set up their email correctly, and you need them to flash a new rom to get a similar experience???

Ya, no.

iPhone is the superior overall experience. Sorry

I love sony products and mobile phones, I was gonna get the xperia ultra z but when I arrived at the store I changed my mind knowing that I am so used to IOS, it is connected to all my mac computers and icloud is amazing.

Putting the software aside the ultra z has a vibrant 6.4 inch display sony triluminos and x reality and bravia engine 2, the list goes on hehe its ultra thin and totally water proof soo sweet hehe but I gave it all up for IOS hehe.

Really? I've tried Nexus 4 in stores. I don't see what you mean.

i can't explain it but lag is something sometimes occurs afters days of use on an android device, not necesarily talking about storage running out, that's when you start downloading those memory-micromanaging apps and start looking out for the phone as it was a windows machine which in my opinion is the wrong approach to mobile devices, the user doesn't have to worry about these things..

and yes lag is still there on the GS 4 as well

if you just can't notice the lag then you have poor attention to detail, because "project butter" is still an ongoing project it hasn't been done yet, and then theres the fact that android devices is still lag on device input-response on their screens compared to the iPhone

If you're going to go for a big screen go the note 3 route. I currently own a 5s and and s4. Best of both worlds. Now i just need to find a nano adapter for when i want to use my s4

Open that sucker up and start using!

Seriously the 5S is a beast. You can go elsewhere, but I think you'll regret it after a bit. I waited a week to use my 5S because I ordered a case and protectors online and I hated waiting. And now that I'm using it I couldnt be more happier. Coming from a 4S it's awesome.

I was going to get the 5 or 5s but pulled the trigger on a galaxy s4 a few months ago. For me, I like this phone because I really get to set it up in a way that works for me using lockscreen apps and widgets. The screen is amazing.. vivid and big. And being able to swap my battery with a spare is key.. I don't have to carry around a charger and go looking for a outlet. Overall, I like the phone. But do I miss ios and sometimes wish I had an iphone? Yes.. but I get my ios fix on my ipad.

And that whole lag thing? To each his own. Everyone has a different definition of what lag is, and a different tolerance level for it. I do notice a "stutter" on my galaxy s4, but it doesn't bother me. But you know what, I also notice lag on my sister's 4s and coworker's 5. Every phone will experience this at some point in time, and some people won't experience this at all.

I had a 5, for almost a year, got tired of iOS , then switched to the GS4. really liked the big vivid screen and I really liked swype. I like the battery swap out, instead of plugging it in.

I used apex launcher , it was cool , I had an iOS 7 theme with iOS 7 icons lol

I hated the bloat ware, you can't uninstall any of it , unless you root it. (which i think disables it) I just didn't want to mess with rooting. I knew I was going to sell it eventually. I do like hacking, but just didn't feel comfortable doing it.

I just wanted to try android again. I didn't go with the Htc one. probably would have been a different experience. just didn't try it out.

the 5s I have now is so much faster and snappier, I couldn't believe it really. games faster too. and no games crashing. I like the one handed use of the iPhone. I have long fingers, and I kinda had trouble using the S4 one handed. I got used to it though, little awkward though.

I've had an iPhone since the original in '07. and every one after. even though I switched to android sometime after the 3GS , but I Still went back to iOS again.

the camera on the s4 was slow sometimes. didn't focus , then I had to close it and open it again. could've just been me idk.

the screen outside was just not good. it was too dim compared to my husbands 5. not even in direct sunlight, I mean just outside even if it was a cloudy day. that was dissapointing.

I did like the different camera modes on the s4 though. they were cool.

the iPhone screen colors aren't as big and bold and they don't pop as much , but that doesn't bother me. they're 2 totally different screens :)
I don't really miss the big screen. the pros for the 5s out weigh the pros for the s4. that's just me though.

I just turned off the gimmicky features like eye scrolling etc on the s4. I do kinda miss the battery life though. but it has a bigger battery too :/

I'll always be an apple fan girl. oh and I really like the resale value on iPhones much better than the android devices.

that's my experience in a nut shell since the original iPhone.
I'm a tech person. I'll continue to buy iPhones every year even though my husband doesn't approve sometimes lol

:D sorry this was kinda long. just wanted to share :)

I don't know what the fascination is with a bigger screen. Then again, I don't sit with my phone watching movies, YouTube, or Vimeo videos for hours on end.

To the OP, it seems as though you're leaning toward Android, so why not just get it?

I used my dad's S4 recently and i almost threw it against a wall. Touchwiz is absolutely DIRE!

HTC One is better but the camera is behind the current competition.

I agree, I just bought a Galaxy Tab 3 8.0, and the Touchwiz just annoyed me and was laggy. I rooted, removed some bloatware, and am now using Nova launcher and it's so much better.

Samsungs version of Android is annoying, in my opinion. I might install a custom ROM.

After getting my new Iphone 5s I ran over my samsung infuse with my car , android is so laggy and shuts down, heats up etc,,I dont care how big their screens are, I have a cool @ss ipad4 for that lol :D

and yours still says unlimited? yeah, the removed the SIM from the getting started guide and I assume my current one is ok to go and nothings changed on it.

thanks for the replies guys. I guess after the excitement wore down I didnt know if I made the right choice, but im sure im ok now. the icloud, iTunes match, and ease of use is whats keeping me on board. i guess i just need to find a good case for this new puppy now lol.

GS4 for sure has lag. Touch wiz sucks. I've tried scroll and rotating, and I don't see the same UI lag on the Nexus 4 as I do on Galaxy phones, but I've only tested these in store, so I'm not sure how 'use' affects these devices. Windows slows down because the registry gets messed up from installing and uninstalling programs. I don't see how Android would have the same problem..

Project butter is still on going, but it's improved dramatically. I'm really impressed with stock Android's speed improvements. It's getting close. Yes, iPhone screen response to touch is fast. I don't know if that difference in speed is always apparent though.

Remember, since you got the "glitch" you might as well keep your unlimited data plan. The nice thing is that in a year or so when (maybe) the iPhone is offered in a larger screen version you'll be able to sell your factory-unlocked Verizon iPhone 5s to an AT&T or T-Mobile user for more than what you paid for it net the subsidy, and use that toward a full-priced device that lets you keep your unlimited data plan.

Last year I went with the S3 instead of the 5, this year I went with an S4 but returned it to wait to see the Note 3 and the 5s. My S4 was pretty quick and little to no lag after I disabled AT&T bloatware and some of touchwiz stuff. I've heard really good things about the note 3 but I'm pretty content with my 5s. I just miss the bigger screen for web surfing and watching some short videos sometimes but for everything else the screen size is alright :)
