My new Black Macbook came

Am I the first one here with the new specs?

It's nice and shiney... came with 10.4.9 pre-installed, everything up to the new quicktime update was on it.

very very pretty.
 
When did you order? That's blazingly quick! I put an order in for mine this morning. I'm guessing I'll be here by the end of next week judging from previous purchase. I just bought the stock black MacBook.
 
I ordered monday, they upgraded my order yesterday with the new releases.. and it got shipped last night, and delivered today 🙂

Indeed blazingly fast.
 
It's a very nice looking machine.

And yeah, it was great for me to hear too when I checked the order status after the updates.. 100% fantastic service from apple, I couldn't have asked for anything more really.

Now I don't know whether to keep or ditch my iMac 24", as this macbook has the same power minus an extra GB ram and the graphics hard.. I do love my iMac though.

Decisions decisions haha.

I'd take the RAM out of the iMac and put it into the Macbook and then sell the iMac. Pick up a nice external monitor and you are set.

However, the iMac has a better video card.
 
If you can use it I'd keep the iMac. The bigger screen is nicer for photoshop or anything like that. If you just use it for day-to-day tasks then you probably might as well downsize.
 
Yeah, i was thinking the macbook was going to be my day to day machine and ideas machine now, and the iMac is my actual workstation... as I do do fair bit of Photoshopping and use in design and illustrator and what not.

EDIT: Just found two dead pixels. I want to cry now.
 
Glad to hear they are shipping quickly, I just ordered a top line White MacBook yesterday morning.

Congrats on your purchase, I'm sure you'll be very happy with it.

Hahaha. I have yet to get my old order from last Tuesday w/ old specs. It was to be overnighted but our last macbook came here quicker w/ free shipping.

Do you think the shippings has to do w/ flying with the time changes instead of against them? Can you post your tracking history? I'd love to see it.
 
So I called after sales and told them that I had two dead pixels, and if it was possible to get an exchange.

They said "normally, we won't give exchanges unless there's 5 or more dead pixels, but seeing as this has only arrived today in this state, i can see you're not too happy about that, so we'll sort out an exchange and get you a new macbook"

To be honest I am again pleased with them, they realised that giving me a product only for it to be annoying after the first few hours isn't acceptable, I was a bit peeved though, as I called my local applestore in southampton and they said there was nothing they could do as i bought it online. They were helpful though, so.. top notch service!

So hopefully by friday ill have another new mac, it might even come before the guy comes to pick this one up... I'm still going to use it until then though. **** em.
 
Just to update cause everyone cares so much... haha

Just got off the phone to apple as their email seemed to fall astray 😕, they have given me my return shipment number, and informed me that my replacement laptop has gone through manufacturing and should be shipped in a few hours! So another new macbook tomorrow!
 
That's good to hear. I've checked mine for dead pixels and i think its ok. I used a loupe just in case. But the way I see it if I don't notice one then it doesnt matter 🙂

I'm picky but yeh, if it was in my iMac i probably wouldnt notice seeing as the screen is mahoosive.

Bah. Mine still hasn't shipped. How long does it take to stick a RAM module in there? Eh?

I was really hoping to have my sticky fingers on it before the long Bank Holiday weekend, too.

I don't think its being picky. Personally I hate this > 5 dead pixels for a replacaement thing. But I've either been lucky or blind as I dont think I've seen one yet!

So, we'll have to be on the lookout for the buyer of your "two dead pixel blackbook" on the refurb store in the next couple of weeks. You should put a tiny mark on it somewhere - inside the battery bay - so we'll know for sure... he he he 😀
 
My Macbook shipped yesterday, and judging by the tracking it should arrive tomorrow at some point (I hope, knock on wood and all that).

I'll post an update as well when I get it, just for interest's sake since the OP had dead pixels
