New one just came, one dead px, I can live with that, as its near the bottom of the screen, so its not the end of the world. Still, a shame though. I don't want another exchange, and i wouldnt try and get one, as I want a laptop, i dont want to keep not having one!!

I'm not disappointed with anyone along the road of getting me my laptop, i guess I am a little disappointed at Apples quality control. I know its not feasable to throw out every dud 1px dead screen, but at the end of the day, we pay a whole lotta money for it.

ah, il get over it and enjoy my lappy.

:)

My Powerbook had two dead pixels; Apple replaced it and the new one had one dead pixel; Apple replaced it again having fired it up and checked it this time, and all was well. If it's bugging you get it replaced.

I'll be honest, I don't think this is going to bother me, yeah i know its there but I can't see it unless i actively look for it.

I think, that it could be stuck, as its red, so I'm going to see about massaging it and stuff, and seeing if that works.

I'm just hapy ive got my laptop now.

I think it would be nice if they could just check the screens. If they find the odd dead pixel why not sell them cheaper as B-stock?

Anyway - I'm loving how quick and responsive my macbook is! I've still only got the stock, but I think I can wait to do the 2GB ram upgrade. The keyboard isn't as good as my powerbook though. I don't like the flat topped keys, I don't find it as easy to touch type. Also the speakers aren't as good, but these are all minor points which I'll get used to. The main thing - its... sooo.. fast!

It does sound like its stuck. Get a piece of paper and a pencil with an eraser on one end. Hold the paper over the screen and gently rub the eraser end of the pixel.

never heard of doing the pencil eraser thing!

And yeh, if i start to use this a lot i may just take the 2GB out of my iMac and wack it in here.. but RAM is getting pretty cheap now, its about half the price of what it was when i bought the 2GB upgrade i did on my iMac.

£65 from Crucial for a matched pair of 1GB sticks. I've always used Crucial RAM ever since I had problems with cheap RAM, way back in my PC days.

how are you getting on with your macbook so far man?

Seems mine has lost 2% of its overall battery capacity already!? that can't be right.

Nope, they're selling them for £58.74 now :D

After speaking to Crucial recently I have been told that even though they haven't updated their website to handle the new Macbook models, if you order CT2KIT12864AC667 they guarantee compatibility.
