My new Macbook Pro...quite a story!

What I would be worried about is getting any warranty service. Without a receipt showing your serial number how would you get service from Apple? I'd check into that right away. Not worth it if Apple thinks it's stolen or something.
That was my thought, but if you've registered the serial number to your Apple ID, you should be fine for repairs (I've never been asked for my receipt). The only issue is, should you wish to buy Applecare, you'll need to spend $100 more to get the MBP level.
Or just order the MB from Amazon, and wait for screw-up #2.

Crazy story. I have ordered so many thing from Amazon over the years and never once did I get the wrong thing. Lucky bastard!
Won't be an issue...It is registered under my name and you do not ned a receipt for warranty work. Plus, I do plan on getting AppleCare before my year is up!
Do you think that the mismatch between the invoice and the machine delivered will affect the Applecare warranty?
I would think that if you took it in for repairs and tried to prove ownership and date of sale from the wrong sales receipt that they may deny you service.

the op originally wanted an MB and he gets an MBP. technically speaking, is it still customer satisfaction if you don't get what you paid for?
what if he has 1o penryn MBPs and he really needs an MB.. and this happened..
do you think he will thank Amazon for it?
@ chrono 1081 - are you suggesting that amazon deliberately upgraded him to keep him a customer? i don't think so.. they would have informed him before hand if that was there intention.

last month we have someone claiming to be mugged and robbed after posting his MBP at craglist.. only to find out in the end, after hundreds of sympathy from the forum members that he was just pulling a joke on everyone.
oh well!

Macbook Pro HD Hard to change
One reason for getting a mac book is the ease of drive swapping. The MBP is much more difficult to do a drive swap on.
I would imagine that there are some folks who would prefer the BMB for the hard drive servicability alone.

Me i don't what to belief,mostly because i was one of the mugs who gave sympathy to this guy & the post about the craigslist muggers
There sure are a lot of salty people on this forum...
It's an unfortunate reality of being a part of any forum on the Internet. Annonymity often has a way of making liars and jerks out of even the most decent people. You just become jaded after a while. Though I'm still giving the OP the benefit of a doubt.
I only wish I was that lucky...
