My goal isn't to war with anyone, but you should keep in mind that your post may read differently than you intended it to. Your post made it sound as if the only people that have any sense are the Mac Pro users (of which I am one, by the way) that are complaining about the OS. Everyone else is a loyalist or newb. It's just a very narrow opinion to have, and yes, that bugs me. I apologize if it felt like I jumped down your throat, as that wasn't my intention. But the whole "old crowd" vs. "new crowd" thing is getting annoying, and it's something that I've seen a lot of on here.

There's plenty of people here in the notebooks forum that have been with Apple for quite a long time...there's a lot of us that didn't come to Apple through the iPhone. Whether or not people like the changes to the OS doesn't necessarily reflect on them being Apple loyalists or newbs. There's plenty out there that just have differing opinions than you. That was my point.

Respect.

Why should I have to eat a $200 restocking fee because of this POS? And I'm about to sling it up on craigslist, I'm over it. Just have to find myself an adequate replacement with Snow Leopard first. BUH BYE "updated" MBP! What a nightmare. My next laptop will be a PC if Apple doesn't get their **** together. If I wanted my laptop to act like an iPhone, I'd buy an iPhone!!!

And yet no one has given me a reason WHY? Tell me how accelerated scrolling helps you browse the web please??

Hmmm. First you said you would not pass it on to anyone now you are going to sell it on Craigslist. Frys wanted a $200 restocking fee but you think you are going to sell it for more than $200 off retail. You want to come on here and whine about 3 finger swiping when you can just use two fingers. You should definitely go back to PC. Unbelievable.

Swiping between pages is done with 2 fingers, not 3, 3 is used to switch between spaces. Again, user error.

The spring effect is pure eye candy, nothing more, nothing less, I don't see why it bothers you so much. Ever used an iPhone, it works exactly the same way.

None of what you mentioned is an actual issue, it's actually a feature.

Wrong. Under trackpad preferences you can change the swiping between webpages back to 3 fingers (what I'm used to and feels natural to me). Yet it only works half the time. That is a bug. Not sure how many times I have to state that.

I've never used an iPhone and don't want my laptop acting like one. As I said, I don't mind the spring-effect on the tops and bottoms of pages...that isn't a big deal. It's the fact that it's also on the SIDES of the pages that makes the webpages slip and slide around when I'm trying to read text, and it's very distracting and annoying.

I didn't even know there is something like accelerated scrolling before I read this thread. Just now when I am trying it I can see it. I think it's just metter of few days to get used to it.

How do you get used to losing your place when reading?? I've been using this thing for a month now and trust me--you don't get used to that! It's obnoxious.

I'm sorry, did you have a rational point mixed in somewhere there? If so, I missed it.

Not trying to sound rude, but I've used Mac Laptops almost exclusively for the last 4(almost 5 years) and I adapted to the new scrolling dynamics in roughly half a minute when Lion came out. It's a simple matter of minding how fast you're moving things around on there.

You're making a big deal out of a feature(because that is what it is) that has been there since Lion came out, 1.5 years ago or so.

Your computer does not have a problem, rather, its user is unable or unwilling to adapt.

You can say you hate it, that's fine by me, but the computer is not at fault here.

Now for the constructive(and hopefully useful to you) part of this post: You can probably find an early 2011 MBP that can run SL, as it originally shipped with SL before Lion came out. That way you'll get quad-core goodness with the ability to use 16GB of RAM, without that oh-so-annoying-but-perfectly-normal scrolling behaviour.

Almost as much fun..

I got admit, that with 30 Replies and 2,300 Views, this Thread is ALMOST as much fun to read as the 'other whining one'..

Gimme Gimme ~ https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1452422/

No Disrespect Intended to the OP here, I know he doesn't like the New Technology, but I'm ~50 years old, on my third MBP since the first generation Apr-06 and I adapt.. Mostly Good, some bad, but I am definitely an Apple Fan.. Period!! :apple:

That being said, it IS entertaining to read both these threads.. Daily.. :)

Take the $200. hit &.......

move on, or back.

I had the bright idea of getting a quad 15" that shipped with SL. (They are still readily available last time I checked.) The early or mid 2011's will run Snow Leopard.

The OS runs fine on older machines, however I've had multiple, documented hardware and software problems on the newer one. (Your mileage may vary.)

I bought my first mac in 1993 and my first PC in 2011.

I just did :) I'm cutting my losses with the Mountain Lion machine and just scored myself an early 2011 MBP running SL with Applecare until the end of 2014. So I'm set for the next two years! Hopefully by then Apple will have pulled their head out of their ass and will allow users the option of turning OFF the "design features" mentioned up thread. I'll worry about that when the time comes. What a nightmare!

Ok, so I have read through this thread, and have to be honest I have never had any of these issues before...

The 'rubber band' thing is just the edge of the screen bouncing back right? How is that annoying.

And I didn't even know about accelerated scrolling, in fact I love the scrolling on Mac's so much smoother compared to Windows trackpads and I never have it scrolling madly or anything.

Everyone is of course entitled to there opinion but I think to claim these two things are 'bugs' is a bit far fetched.
