My note 5 flys! 6300 geekbench!

Single core can still barely beat the 2 year old 5s. Kinda sad considering almost none of the apps people use on the daily take advantage of more than 1 or 2 cores.

This is a classic manufacturer just throwing more at a device to say it has more, instead of actually innovating and making a power efficient, immensely powerful SOC.

Android is running in vm and uses all the resources it can and spreads all loads across all cores.

They did make a power efficient powerful soc.I got 8 hours on screen time and a 1day 12 hours usage on my first charge and I ran benchmarks all day with it.

Also where does a 5s hit over 1650?(my best is 1680) single core and the fastest 5s from a search on geekbench is 1395 and the iPhone 6 is 1606 along with the 6 plus and it has all 3 of them beat in single core performance.

The exynos 7420 came out almost a year ago and is competing with the iPhone 6 and the gs7 will answer to the a9 and most likely get a huge jump in single core from using the new arm a72 architecture and instruction sets.

Arm said its up to 60% faster clock for clock so there will be a huge increase in single core next exynos soc.

PS you can throw in the iPad air 2 a8x in there as my run beat everything up to the brand new iPhone 6s that came out in all bench runs.

Does your 5s hit 80k antutu also?

Generally speaking, apps use half the cores available, whether that be 1,2, or 4, apps are never almost using all 8 cores, with a few exceptions for poorly written apps. You're also on a custom kernel so you can't really compare to a stock kernel.

I also never said a 5s beats it, I said your over clocked note 5 can barely beat it. The 5s always scores around 1420 on single core... Not overclocked.

My bone stock galaxy s6 BONE stock runs 1500-1550 single core geekbench and its not overclocked.

All apps get spreads across depending on load and don't know what your talking about even anandtech said multi core is the way to go and has a big difference.

Android is not like x86 and does not need apps multi threaded like computers do and can easily throw loads across all cores

I can make a video of cpuz running on my stock kernel and stock rom gs6 running showing it ramp all the cores mhz up and down while I do simple tasks like web browsing and you tube videos.it won't max clock them just from web browsing but it will clock all 8 of them

That's great that it can keep up with a 2 year old device. Congrats. I'm just saying multi core score is more measuring d*ck size more than anything else, since there are no apps that are properly written to take advantage full of all 8 cores.

The note 5 is like the gt-r. Sure it's really fast, but imagine what if Nissan innovated and used lightweight, high strength materials to take 700lbs off it, or if Samsung make soc that dominated the single core. It'd be a beast.

you don't need apps to be written in multi core on Android why are you not getting this.

Here is a snap shot of modern combat and its hard to get but I had cpuz running on the screen to show you the cores and clocks and load they were getting.while playing the game depending on actions and graphics on the screens all 8 cores would dynamically adjust clocks and would all be working.even the little cores and none of them are idle.

Also why are you bringing up the 5s and keep saying its 2 years old? The 7420 is old also it it was first actually used in the Korean note 4 but had 64 bit shut off and that phone also was neck to neck with the 5s in single core back then.the gs6 not only beat the iPhone 6 in its prime number its single core it beat it in multi as well.

Stop comparing the new iPhone ...when the gs7 comes out that will go up against the new iPhone and when apple goes quad core I'll be the first tell tell you exynos did it 5 years ago lol

You also need to understand Samsung went big little for max performance and max efficiency.apple uses a really big fat core with a huge wide pipe line to get its massive single core performance and they purposly made it that way.it has incredible performance per clock cycle but can not run high mhz because its efficiency will suffer.its the reason the a8x got a tiny 100mhz speed bump but added another core instead of ramping the 2 cores to 2.5 ghz.it would run extremely hot and not efficient because they made it purposly to run insane single core and cap out around 1.7-1.8ghz.

Samsung went smaller cores but added more of them.best of both worlds and there next gen soc is more single core based and they droped it to a quad core from 8

PS technically it's over clocking but we are just using Samsung base kernel source code and these values all came from Samsung.they built the 7420 to actually hit 2.4ghz and anandtech did a review of it and said there is also another locked 100mhz speed bin for the gpu to hit 877mhz.Samsung was really scared of the snapdragon when making the 7420 and was waiting on the 810 thinking it would of been there next gen cores and actually when they flopped Samsung lowerd its soc for better battery life but sammy was ready to battle as you can see from my results

The technical aspects of this are way over my head so I have a question--genuine question, not trolling.

If you're seeing such a marked improvement in both battery and CPU performance vs. a Note 5 running out of the box, stock TouchWiz, why hasn't Samsung implemented these changes? There has to be some sort of downside, else I suspect they'd make these changes as well. At least, I'd hope they would, else they look like completely incompetent.

So the first thread is a guy complaining that his one plus one running hello cyanogen mod rom is smoother then a oem rom.

Why don't you wait for me to run a cmrom on my phone and then see what happens?

I'm willing to bet the second video has the phone running a full Google photos and music sync in the background and is in power saving mode.

Syncing files in background will not show up in app draw and will kill performance.

Just for the hell of it I'll run the same apps and I'll even bet you 500 bucks my phone will blow the doors off of this note 5. And is it just me or did the note 5 win at least 3 tests and the guy said the iPhone won? The dialer was like 2 seconds faster on the note and he said the iPhone won

Someone want to hold the money in PayPal? I guess this guy didn't see me run like 20 apps back to back lol

Anyone with a 6s plus run antutu yet? What does the a9 run in antutu? I hit 80k without overclocking the gpu lol

So the new excuse is that it'll be awesome when you flash a custom ROM? But what happened to all the nice awesome features that used to be bragged about? You previously defended Touchwiz and now you've just admitted that any and all performance issues with the Note 5 are related to Touchwiz. Which side are you on exactly?

It seems you didn't bother reading through the first thread at all. People were posting proof in graphs showcasing how choppy scrolling is on the Note 5. This isn't about OnePlus One, this is about an 8-core phone not being able to scroll YouTube properly, let alone playing 60fps videos properly in the YouTube app. That's really unfortunate.

Bet whatever you want. It's a video that was made by Android users so I highly doubt they sabotaged it in favour of the iPhone. You can run the tests if you want. The problem is you'd probably be running it with like a million system services disabled, whereas iPhone runs like that out of the box. That's pretty sad for, again, an 8-core 4GB RAM phone. Brag about Antutu and Geekbench as much as you want, these benchmarks simply don't equate to real world performance in the slightest.

No I read the original poster comparing his note 5 to a phone running cyanogen mod rom.I stopped reading right there.of course his phone is going to run as fast as hell.its running a rom made by the freaking best development team on android. He is running the holy grail of roms and of course it's going to run fast and smooth.my point was you can't compare a custom rom by the very best rom development team on Android to any oem rom.

I'll read up more later on tonight.I know you tube has had an update like every other day so I'm sure most of his issues are fixed.

And again my phone is running a custom kernel and you keep saying it still lags and points me to phones that are not unlocked and not scoring anywhere near 5k in geekbench let alone 6600 and keep say yet it still lags.

My phone gets ota updates just fine.it came from Samsung with an unlocked bootloader.no hacks were done.I went into develop options and clicked unlock boot loader to get 100% control of the device.

The warranty is void because I can overvolt and overclocking it and it would be 100% my fault.

You can also overcharge the battery and underdrain it before the phone shuts off.

Samsung pay is a rumor that it won't work,not sure as its not 100% out yet.

Here is my phone running YouTube not sure wtf I'm looking at but I think it's better then the guys in the xda thread.

And my Facebook running fast as ****!

Omg I'm laughing bro just give it up.I did exactly what I'm supposed to do from the thread.

The people are having lag and studder on loaded things in memory and if I do it cold without it buffering my fps go way up as the phone is waiting for the content to load.

I can redo it your way and get about 80fps lol and yes every phone will lag and wait for content to load.

The problem they are having is things already in memory and the whole build prop mods are adjusting the memory caches and buffers to fix it.

I'm enjoying it. I love it when people tell other people how their gear is such and such from a huge distance away.

I also love how people claim stuff, it gets proven to be false via demonstration, they then turn tact and go off on another tangent or lame analogies while never backing up what they say with proof other than other people's videos which are usually biased or out of date or even totally irrelevant.

My Note 5 is as close to mobile zen as I've experienced, not modified at all, no custom kernels or any such.

It doesn't lag at all on everyday use. It does a little when apps are updating though...

Please go ahead and disprove the countless evidence in that thread and in the comparison video. I'm sure all the posters in that thread would love to know how you defeated lag in your phone. :rolleyes:

Otherwise I'll take their word and my experience with my Note 5 over yours thanks.
 
The last thing Samsung needs is people apologizing for their mistakes... This is why they've still not solved this issue for years now.
