Apple makes undoubtedly a ton of money with lightning cables and accessories, but I wonder how many Android users they are missing because of that. If they decide to go wireless charging only to avoid the EU regulation about USB C (assuming that the EU accepts it) I will never consider iPhone as an option (wireless charging is a nice additional option but very inefficient and bad for the battery in the long run as the only option)
I dumped my Samsung phones for the iPhone. I don't care for the Lightning cable as my iPads are all USB-C now but I just view it as a minor inconvenience. I still have six Android tablets but I'd never go back to Android for a new phone or tablet.
