Oh and my printer supports AirPrint, so I really am covered for everything I do :)
We never did invest in an official AirPrint printer, but I did grab PrinterPro when it was free for awhile, and we love it. Both our iPads and our iPhones are configured with that app. It's not QUITE as seamless as a real AirPrint unit, but pretty close.

Such a valuable tool. I really wish they made a small printer that was AirPrint only for about $30. No one needs a scanner with a good app. I can't remember the last time I used the scanner on mine...scanner pro is a great app

Any of you guys take you Pro out on your travels? To the office, away for the weekend etc..How do you find it? Too big?

I've been taking it with me to work. During my commute, if the bus isn't crowded, I take it out to read or do some light work. At work, I have an MBA that has both Windows and OS X installed. I used to switch often between windows and OS X, but now the MBA is permanently on Windows and I use my iPP for when I want to work in iWorks.

First day with my iPP and I put the rMB and it in my bag. I am testing to see if this something I want to do everyday or leave the rMB at home and just remote in when needed. I will use the iPP a ton for meetings, marking up agendas, and note taking.

I am kind of anxious about whipping it out for the first time in a room full of executives and writing notes on it but I have to break the ice sometime right?

Anything you can do with your iPad, you can just as easily do with a macbook. For reading etc you can just buy a 50 dollar Amazon Fire and not waste hundreds of dollars on an overpriced, under-functioning iPad. Just a waste of money.

Lol, I enjoy the rubbish that is tossed around sometimes on these forums and what others think people should do with their money.

I use my iPP as a whiteboard for lectures, where I handwritten equations during the entire class with Apple Pencil. Please enlighten me how you could use your MacBook to achieve the same task.

The same way. There are whiteboard apps for OSX. Inklet for OSX allows you to use your trackpad as a tablet. I've done that a few times. Although certainly not as direct as using a stylus on the iPad screen, it can come in handy. (disclaimer: no palm rejection or pressure sensitivity)

He is telling you to have fun writing your equations and lecture notes on a 5 inch track pad!!! Same thing!!

Specific examples:

1. Podcasting. Still no iOS apps that allow me to use an iPad/iPhone as my portable recording studio. There's an app called Ringr that comes close. It has really good sound quality and is 100% designed to do a double ended podcast FOR YOU. It takes all the syncing work out of the equation and removes the need for Skype. But it also doesn't allow me to use my nice mic because it doesn't support lightning mics, and using the EarPods mic for podcasts results in sub par audio. Ferrite is another good one, but doesn't have built in telephony like Ringr does, so it's useless to me as well as far as iOS goes. It would be my go to for recording the show in the same room with someone else, but I rarely do that. Also, doing super precise editing and post production later on in GarageBand for iOS is a complete nightmare and adds hours to the job. Not ideal. I expect that this situation will be remedied in time. The folks over at Ringr have assured me that lightning support is coming. Once that happens, I could easily record a double ended podcast while on the go without having to bring my Mac. (I would still want to edit it and add things to it later on my Mac, but I don't usually do stuff like that on the go.)

2. Steam. iOS doesn't run Steam or any of the games in my Steam library. And I LOVE my Steam library. Not wiling to give it up.

3. Work. I can actually do my full time job comfortably from my current iPad for a lot of the things I do every day. The other day, I took my iPad with me to work while waiting for my car to be repaired, and that worked out fine. But on days where I have lots of conference calling, screen sharing, and heavy multitasking to do (and no, split screen on iOS does not cover it) I HAVE to have my Mac or my work PC hooked up to my two big widescreen monitors so I can have a million things going on at once. And this is not a niche use case. This is how a lot of office jobs are. Every one of my last companies has given every employee two monitors to work from because that's how a lot of people work these days. iPad Pro would need that kind of functionality for me to want to switch to it full time.

I am by no means a nay sayer of the iPad Pro. I have tried it out several times extensively, and I think it's fabulous hardware. The speakers are amazing, the screen is gorgeous, and the guts seem to be super fast. But it's still iOS, and it's still an iPad. Just doesn't fit as my every day computer yet. That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if this rMBP eventually gets replaced by an iPad Pro sometime in the next couple of years. I'm just waiting for iOS to catch up with what I need to do.

the iPad is still quite clearly hampered or at least not as easy to use for work related tasks. I guess yes it does technically depend on what kind of work you do. But for most people, trying to do all one does for work on an iPad is just an exercise in futility (or a huge time sink). It's not the hardware, it's the software.

I keep getting drawn into the iPad Pro, yet I don't need it, and I have a 12" (seems slightly smaller) tablet - the Surface Pro 3. I have more options with the SP3 then the IPP, yet maybe because of the apple logo, I'm getting tempted. I don't see high usage from this and given its high price point, its hard to justify.

I am the same, I would love one but my uses for it wouldn't be justified for the cost. if I could use it at work I would probably get one as I would get more use out of it especially for notes and I could use it as a second screen from my laptop. However my work is strict on BYOD and wouldn't allow

Have you looked at any of the threads about "pictures drawn on IPP?" Some of the artwork is quite simply stunning. Don't see doing that on a MBP, at least not as easily or quickly.
