Considering I called the Uber driver while my phone and the passenger that took it were still in the car, I feel like there’s no point in me even reporting it stolen. The guy knew what he was doing. He turned it off when he got dropped off. I mean maybe he came to his sense after he realized it’s useless, but I doubt it.

This is natural and common sense most thieves would immediately do this unless they want to be tracked. You gotta understand that they have their own reasons so you may think it’s useless but they can still salvage it $$$. Sellers on eBay even sell iCloud locked devices. I know how you feel though and not sure if police can help you to recover it since it’s petty theft. I would definitely go through the claim and pay the deductible for a new phone and follow up with the theft case.

Yeah that’s what I will do. Hopefully my phone arrives Thursday.
