Are you kidding me? A 13" OLED is $2500. Even a 3.5" screen would cost hundreds upon hundreds of dollars.

Uh... the OLED screen upgrade on my 13.3" notebook was $125 a year ago.

Yea like one of the other posters listed in remark to the OP, they had better do something about battery life if they are going to upgrade a speedier phone or multi-tasking (pre) or whatever or people will be pissed...

Nope, the Nokia N85 is already equiped with an OLED display, as is the 6215i which was released in the US in September I believe and was the first OLED nokia your side of the pond. Most mobile manufacturers already have OLED handsets announced.

Using OLED instead of LCD delivers better battery life so would be a good move, as well as looking very nice.

The OLED manufacturers are madly trying to work the kinks out of the manufacturing process so that they can scale up production. They just recently figured out how to make the displays last long enough without fading out. I don't think they can yet reliably manufacture enough defect free volume of 3+ inch displays. Apple can't switch until they can get millions of units per month, and at a competitive price to boot. It would be neat if Apple had an inside track with a up and coming supplier, much as they did with the micro-hard-disk-drives in the original iPod.

I don't see a huge hardware upgrade coming in June/July. If you look at the jump from the original iPhone to the 3G, there wasn't a huge jump. Basically, the 3G got a slightly better battery, GPS, and more flash storage. We can dream, but people realistically shouldn't really expect much in June or July (or else we'll have another MWSF bitchfest on our hands). My predictions:

1) Increased storage to 32GB
2) Better camera (with auto focus - long overdue)
3) Better processor
4) Better battery life

And I think I'm stretching it a little too far here.

3) Better processor

That's a foregone conclusion, I think, since they already put a better processor into the 2nd gen iPod Touch, and they'll have to bring their flagship product up to at least match that.

One other thing they might do is to up the RAM memory from 128 MB. Right now the OS plus built-in apps, especially Safari, are having a bit of a crunch.

agree with most of it except nike+ integration. that seems like an unnecessary cost and something that i feel apple will keep to the touch

I'm putting my money on some watered-down or chopped-up apple-version of copy and paste where you have to make this 30 finger gesture in order to bring up a menu where you select 'copy' and another 30 finger gesture to select 'paste'.

I'm also betting a better (AF?) camera. But you know it will still suck, because come on - it's Apple.

Recording videos? Pshaww. Random guess - they might add that functionality in Photo Booth where the phone takes 4 photos in rapid succession and then applies an Apple-y theme to it to make it look like it just came out of a film roll.

I do know there will be this button that, when you push it, it tells you how long Steve will be working for Apple before he retires to Hawaii... ><

And if you say a super special code word, iPhone will give you money.

I'd be perfectly happy with your list of upgrades if it were to come true and do not think it's THAT big of a stretch.

I would love to see a bit larger screen as well, maybe as far as 4 inches wide. That would be lovely. ;)

Larger screens would screw up all the videos that people have already downloaded from the iTunes store.

They already did that once (pissed people off) when they upgraded to the current resolution music videos from the original one made for the iPod video. I doubt they're going to do it again.

Besides, the iPhone is large enough as it is. It's larger height-wise than most other smartphones, and increasing that would make it even more clunky than it already is.

Seriously, if you hold it in two hands near the bottom third, it seems HUGE.

Uh well all of the music videos that I bought/downloaded for my ipod video still to this day work with my iphone. So I say that isn't true.

I thought the same thing as well, although I never had a video ipod nor an iphone to try it out yet, so...

And I think the screen could be expanded a bit within the current size of the overall size of the phone. Tighten up the area with the earpiece and the home button and you could prolly fit a quarter to half an inch right there, although small changes but every little bit counts if you ask me. ;)

I'm not saying that the videos I've purchased before don't work, but they're 1/2 the resolution of the video if I was to purchase it today at this very minute.

Trust me, the difference is noticeable. I have an iPod video (where they're fine...), an iPhone (where they're not as sharp as newer videos) and an Apple TV (where they're just awful. - new ones are ok, but still suck)

Yes, but doing so without increasing resolution changes the display dpi. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the current iPhone OS was created with this generation's dpi value and increasing this would cause distortion.

Wow now looking at this 6 months later, My predictions were actually extremely accurate. Even stuff I said was unlikely came true. Can't wait for iPhone 3G S this summer. I have the original iPhone which I got 2 years ago which has tons of cracks and will probably break if I accidentally drop it again. Contract expires in July so I will buy it then.
