My father, who when he was younger (before I was born and when I was a young kid) was big on photography as a hobby. He spent lots of money on cameras and equipment, even developed his own photos. After I got my iPhone 13PM, I had him watch iJustine's photography video (purely by accident) to show off the screen and speaker quality of the new iPhone. This got him very excited. A few days later he took advantage of a 400 dollar trade in deal for his iPhone 8 Plus through Verizon to get a 13pm at a discounted price (in the new blue, I'm actually jealous)

I came home today and he had bought a tripod attachment that holds a smartphone and had it attached with his 8plus toying around with it, telling me about all the stuff he'll be able to do when his new phone arrives. He was so excited.

He's 65 and retired this year and hasn't really found a hobby yet. I am so glad that Apple's excellent photography has gotten him excited about it again. I told him he would have to do much less tinkering now as well, and also that he will take better pictures than he has ever taken before. He said "I can't wait!! I'm going to have a blast!!"

Thanks Apple!

I told him "Now you can take pictures of sunsets until you sail off into one" LOL

Great story man — makes me happy to hear that he’s so excited about diving into this. My 80yo mother ordered the 13PM as well and loves the cameras.

Had your father experimented with macro photography in the past? Will he focus on stills or shoot video as well? Sounds like his enthusiasm won’t stop him from trying anything — looking forward to seeing what he comes up with!

This is awesome :) And like everyone else said, share some pics when you can! I hope he has a blast with his new phone when it comes in.

I’m 75, also enjoy photography and procrastinating over getting a 13PM but somewhat concerned over its size and weight for everyday use as a phone. I’ll be making a big jump up from my 6 hence my concerns. Would be interested how your father gets on and his comments if any.
Well, I can comment as a 67 year old woman with a 70 year old husband who both have 13 pro maxes. We love them! The size and weight are something we were able to adjust to quickly with the XS Max. Upgrading to the 13 pro Mac has been a great experience, especially in terms of the camera as we both love photography. My husband loves having it as his everyday companion even though he has a great new Fuji camera, too. I don’t really think of it as a phone as I use it primarily for reading, texting, email, navigation, web research, product research & shopping, etc. When I do talk on the phone I often use the excellent speakers. My husband carries it in his pocket with no issues. Good luck deciding!
