The iPhone X served me well for almost 2 years. Other than the battery not really lasting a day anymore (even though i was still at 94% capacity), the phone ran great. However, I wanted a larger screen. But not the massive Pro Max screen. So that's why I chose the iPhone 11. Not to mention that the starting price is much less than the pro models.

My first impressions after a weekend of use:

- The 6.1 inch screen is really the right size. I honestly do not notice a difference between OLED and LCD. Maybe there is a slight difference, I just don't notice it in regular use.

- The processor is speedy. When I go to the battery screen under settings, my battery use comes right up. On the X it was at the least a few second wait, sometimes much more.

- The battery seems to be great, especially coming from an X. I used the phone all day Saturday, and it was still at around 60% when I went to sleep. Great battery life.

- I do kind of miss the telephoto lens. But the optical zoom is good. And I took some really great pics using the ultra wide angle lens. The new portrait filters are great as well, they look like studio portraits.

- I chose black, but it didnt really matter what color I chose, I put it right into an otterbox commuter case.

- If you are trading in an X it's really a relatively inexpensive upgrade.

All in all, it was an impressive first weekend with the 11. Let me know your thoughts on your new phones!

Also forgot to mention, the speakers on the 11 are much louder than the X. I was using waze in the car and was blown away.

I used an 11 for a few days from an X and echo a lot of your comments if people are on the fence, I couldn’t notice much of a difference with OLED and LCD except for when it came to dark mode, and the battery and speakers are something else

Only downside I have is unlike yourself 5.8 inch is the right size for me, its a bit annoying that downgrading the size of my phone means having to pay extra for that phone lol, but 6.1 with the width height and weight of the 11 just isn’t for me sadly

....from X to 11, then yes, it's a worthwhile upgrade. On the other hand, an XS to the 11 - thats not a worthwhile upgrade.
;)

I went from the X to the XR last year. To me that was a massive mistake. I noticed a huge difference in screen quality and the thicker bezels did bother me. Everyone different though and that awesome your happy. But that’s not an upgrade that everyone might be happy with. Enjoy the iPhone 11 man!

Depends on how you look at it. I went from the 8 to the XS, and about a week afterwards, I started having a bunch of eyestrain, headaches, etc. I didn't think at all it was related to the phone; I figured it was summer allergies or something.

Then I saw the 110+ page thread about iPhone X PWM. Did the tests and saw the PWM for myself; and when I swapped out my phone for my wife's (an 8+), suddenly the headaches and eyestrain got markedly better.

So evidently I'm one of those guys who's affected by it. My wife and I both have 11's on order; for what I use it for (basic surfing, a bunch of calling, some admin stuff, and some video viewing/FB'ing), the screen is more than acceptable, the camera and battery life are great, etc.

Thanks, I am enjoying it. I think the screen on the 11 is great, I really don't notice any difference. My son has an XR so I did many comparisons with my X before I went ahead with the 11. I love the 11 and its a relative bargain at its starting price.

I returned the XS for the XR due to battery life and color shift. It was an upgrade IMO.

If I didnt prefer the larger screen on the Pro Max I would have considering an 11. For my eyes the larger screen and using dark mode have really helped. I love my Pro Max for those two reason alone in addition to other things.

But I think the 11 is going to be an amazing seller. They packed a lot in for the price point. I’m not really hearing many negatives at all. 👍

I did the exact same. The X was not lasting long enough...even though it was still fluid and super nice to use. However, the main reason to upgrade was the camera. And I'm very happy with it.

Yes, the display is different, but tbh, I even find it better and less eye-tiring. The 11 is a great phone.

Man I was really happy when Apple announced they were going with 11 instead of XI for the name. Seems we'll probably never get away from people referring to the past phones as the "ecks" or "ecks-ess" though.

Oh well. First world/grammar nazi problems. I'm happy you're happy with your phone nonetheless!

....thats actually a downgrade if you compare the stats between the two phones!
Have you used both? Do you know that the single-lens camera on iPhones often does not suffer from some of the multi-lens ‘math’ on iPhones? Do you edit photos? Color shift on the X/XS OLED versus the consistent colors with the LCD makes it much easier to get the right edit. The battery life of the XR blew the X/XS away. The screen of the XR, in everyday use, is 95% of the XS.

Specs aren’t everything.

It's a lonely place on the forum owning the 11 seeing all the threads for the Pro.

Thanks for the post OP. I am considering the same move myself. My 64 gig X is nearly full. The idea of a bigger screen and better battery is appealing. And I could get a 128 gig 6 for $350. My only concern was how it looked with dark mode. I figured worse case I could keep it a year and still go back to the 11 Pro replacement next year.

It looks great in dark mode.

I upgraded from the 8 Plus and am happy with the 11. Face ID is pretty cool and the performance of the phone is great. Wasn't planning on upgrading but I got $300 in trade that I wouldn't have gotten next year and the price was right.

Reviews said the 11 was the best value and I didn't have a need for a 3rd camera so didn't consider the other phones.

I think the size of the 11 is perfect... I have no complaints coming over from the 8 Plus. This phone will more than suit my needs for the next year... and if I'm not happy with the 2020 phones... 2-3 years perhaps.

It’s not an easy feeling particularly in our case where we want the pro, have the money for the pro, and cannot use it due to PWM sensitivity. Every article, blog, camera review, etc will focus on the pro modes. Which they should, it’s the better phone.
Having said that, I played extensively with the 11 in the Apple store yesterday. After tweaking the settings to reflect how I’d use the phone, my attitude changed. I did enjoy the size and I was very impressed with the screen. I’m not going to place my phone side by side with other phones during use, and I’m not a spec chaser. The screen was beautiful. The ONLY thing I’ll miss over my 8 Plus is the lack of telephoto lens. I’d use that so much more than wide angle.
If I do go 11 I’ll leave the forums lol. It’ll just be pro centric going forward.

Coming from an XS Max, The 11 has a faster chip, same ram as the pro’s, better speakers, better battery, better glass, better cameras (front and back) than the XS. And I upgraded from 64gb to 256gb and still came out cheaper. The only “downgrade” was the screen, and I don’t miss OLED at all. So yes, it was a worthwhile upgrade.

It's funny you mention that about the OLED. I have a 65" in my home theater and it's amazing for UHD viewing... but on a phone I just don't care about it. That's the reason I kept the 8 Plus for 2 years and just upgraded to the 11. LCD isn't something for my home theater but it's more than sufficient for the phone. Biggest thing is the OLED is best viewed in a dark environment (my theater is totally blacked out) but how many of us are staring at our phones in the dark consistently?

:)

The iPhone 11 has the same amount of RAM as the XS/Max: 4GB.
