Comparison shot... (Box was already open in the store)

Hello,

My saddle brown leather case have some water stains on it (see attached picture). I left my phone in my sport bag during a soccer game and the rain did its job... After a couple weeks of drying and everyday use, the stains are still here. Any idea about how I can remove them, if it's even possible?

That's a shame because the case was holding really well after almost one year of everyday use. Well, at least the case was damaged but not the phone...

It's funny how subjective these things can be. I think your case looks awesome as is. Great worn look.

I think I managed to recover it somehow. First I washed the entire case with white vinegar. I was skeptical but hey, I had nothing to loose. It made the case very clear, harsh and dry, and helped a little bit with the water stains. But the case was so clear, like on the first day out of the box. Didn't liked it.

Then, looking for some techniques on the internet to darken the leather quickly, I used coconut oil. It helped a lot to darken the case, I had to put two layers as the leather was so dry. Finally after letting the case dry overnight I put some conditioner to protect the case.

Here is a shot of the result. The water stains on the right side of the case are still visible but it's less obvious than before because of the whole case been darker now. And overall I really like the new color of the case.

That look so nice
Thanks for sharing the method :)

haven't posted any updates in a while. the saddle brown has become very slick. the red obviously shows it's use but is the one with the best grip. I swap them every now and then. I'll get photos of the brown tomorrow. thinking of getting the 6s if i pass on the iP7 (given the leaks, i may) and may go for another color case if I do.

Bought the case the day after I purchased my iphone 6s on launch day (11 months now?). Not sure how leather holds up, but was the first time I actually cleaned the case with the same cleaner that I use for my dress shoes as well.

That is one good looking patina you got there!

Is it true the soft touch leather backing [the inside that touches the phone] bleeds onto the antennae lines for the silver/gold/rose gold iphones?

I'm tempted to get the saddle brown but keep reading some phones getting the lines stained
I realize this comment is from six months ago, but the question is still relevant. On my RG 6s, I rotate between a navy blue and black apple leather case. The antenna lines have absolutely changed color. It's subtle, but they're definitely no longer bright white.

Okay, it's been way over 6 months since I posted an update on my daily abuse of the leather case. I don't clean it. I just wipe off the stuff after picking it up from a stable (always crumbles or whatever) and that's about it. I don't take care of it. Its purpose is to protect the phone. It's doing that just fine.

In a bit of a rush, so not going to photoshop the pictures I took, instead I will link them remotely. They're a bit too big for forum attachments it appears.

By the way, the black case next to it is my iPad Air 2 with black leather case. It takes way more damage because of how I throw it in my backpack.

I am ok with the dirty darker look, and I love how it recovers from water damage like rain, or scratches from something sharp. My phone has no chipping, no damage, no scratches, or anything. 10/10 would buy again.

I really love the way the saddle brown looks after time and I'm wondering what the Tan case will look like over time. Currently trying to make up my mind on which one to purchase for my 7.

The back of the matt black is so pretty now, compared to the ugly bands contrasting 6splus i have now. I might just go naked with the 7plus.

I've been saying this too! I was telling someone how I spend so much money on cases and screen protectors I should just go naked and get AppleCare+. Because after a year and buying no cases it would have been a better deal. Plus isn't it only $29 now if you break the screen?

$29 in the upgrade program, with apple care. Without the upgrade program? I don't know, let's find out..

it seems that's a yes. Indeed.
