I've had 3 random task BSOD on my eeePC 1000H running a WD scorpio blue 64Gb SSD... I had a feeling it was something to do with the onboard GC and wear leveling algorthims (sp?) WD uses...

SMART is supposed to do this on SSD's...

Samsung SSD's just die suddenly - do not buy!

Exact same experience here. Lost all data permanently.

Put in a new Samsung 256GB SSD with microSATA- for speed, power, reliability... worked great for 9 months, then a completely random total failure with absoutely no triggering conditions.

Came back to the computer from dinner and the computer is stuck at bootup.

Drive is not recognized in anything as existing (bios level etc) - just gone.
Tried drive savers - they can't fix it and send it back.
Then sent it to one of the "samsung authorized repair centers".
They can't fix it at all - claim if you go SSD you have a small chance of data recovery when they fail unless it is really simple power supply problem.

Samsung warranty is a joke - their website gives a link to samsungssd.com but that whole domain isn't even registered!

If you go SSD, you are taking a huge gamble with your data and no one is really talking about it- ask any repair center. They said they are flooded with these SSDs at drive savers and the tech AFTER they gave up on mine said about 1 in 5 gets their data back. (before I sent it they said no problems! 80% recovery - this is sales guys trying to get you drive in hand). I learned this the hard way. No way I am going back until I see some long term relaibility reports.
