I personally empathize 100%.

So, I sold my iPhone 6s Plus 2 weeks ago, was able to get 750 bucks for it. I do this every year as sort of a cleanse/"distance makes the heart grow fonder" sort of thing.. It allows me to have funds for the iPhone 7 or what ever..

But 2 days after selling it I said "f it, let me try the SE" and I did.. I bought it, got home pulled out my old red leather 5s case.. Dropped a glass screen protector on it.. And boom I was back to iPhone land.. And my watch was working again..

3 days later, I was in hell.. I hated it.. How did I function? How was this device at this size the premium device? It's beautiful.. Love the flat screen (hate the rounded edges on the 6 line). But everything else made me angry.. Watching videos, typing, just basic functionality was no longer as fast and I was with my 6s plus (not the speed of the device but the speed of my working) I kept misspelling stuff, I would fat finger EVERYTHING.. the screen is such a let down.. I personally think apples should have done a weird upgrade to test the waters and done an OLED on it.. Just to see what people thought.. (I know that's silly) but I used Apple Pay.. And Touch ID (first Gen Touch ID is sooooo slow) my honeymoon was over. I boxed it up.. And returned it to the Apple Store. No questions asked.

So OP. I get it. I wanted to love it and I was going to keep it as a spare/interim iPhone in the household.. But I couldn't do it..

I really don't see why this is so hard for some people to understand. Cool, you don't use your phone as a status symbol. Do you think that somehow makes you superior? It's like asking someone why they don't just buy fake jewelry, or shop for all of their clothes at Walmart since they do the same thing as more expensive name brand clothing.

I don't buy phones solely based on looks, but it definitely factors into my purchase a little. And it feels kind of nice when you get a new gadget and people gawk at it.
