Today is the definition of first world problems...after conflicting reports and articles, I'm starting to believe my beloved 6 Plus has 1GB of RAM.

As a shareholder I'm glad Apple saved their money, as a customer I'm devastated. I get many will try to defend their decision but I personally bought the highest 6 Plus model...that's $1,000 off contract.

How will I survive the next two years of Safari reloads?

Goodbye cruel world

I would love a follow up on this thread. My $$ is on him keeping the device the minute he puts it in his hands

I know. It's like cheating on a girlfriend or spouse, don't even put yourself in a risky situation.

I already pre-ordered the 6 Plus. Once I hold it in my hands I'm done for haha.

Kinda like the doc telling you you're terminal, right?

Simple. We have had iPhones with only 1GB of RAM for the last two years ;-)

----------

I don't call filling out an online form on one tab, closing the tab to read a SMS and then returning to the partially completed webform, only to find that the tab has reloaded and lost my work, as abusing my device. If you just use yours for games and music then excuse my 'power usage'.

I just tried doing that. Tab didn't reload.

Sorry.

Power using was fun though.

This is a plus for the iPhone 6 right? Since the phone is smaller, there is less for the RAM to work for?

It's intermittent but happens daily for me. Are you telling me that over the past two years you haven't experienced a webpage or app reload??
Data-heavy sites can cause the actual tab I'm on (and never left) to reload!

It doesn't happen every time. Load a couple pages with a lot of content. Do like 6-8 tabs. Go back to the first one. You will see reloading.

Basically a reload happens when iOS deems it necessary to "dump" the data from one of the erlier tabs so that the phone may continue running smoothly.

If/when it's released it's only 1 gig of ram. It will amazingly turn around that the 6+ only needs 1 and that anyone who says otherwise is an idiot.

Can't wait for that.....

You know what? I never really thought about that. I don't really use Safari on my Mac, except to quickly test for web development. But now that you mention it, it does seem like I've experienced that before but forgot about it. Interesting.

One of the benefits (?) of this is that it makes going back on these forums easier since the threads reload for me... at the cost of all other pages refreshing on back, whether I want it to or not. I mainly use Chrome for development work so it's not too much of a bother, but that also forces me to use Chrome on iOS as well, if I need tab synchronization.

You'll survive just as fine as you have for the last 2 years that you've lived with 1Gb of RAM. No mo better and no less better. Move along.

Wait...isn't the OP the same guy who was accusing that other guy of being a troll when he posted that he had hands-on time with the new iPhones and he stated that they only had 1GB of RAM?

I'm not one to say I told you so... Ehh... Ya, I am.

TOLD YOU SO :p

As for the "problems" that only happen under very specific circumstances, that was EXACTLY my point.

And if I can't get a RAM related problem when I'm TRYING to create one, it's not a problem. Sure, I believe it COULD happen, but not enough and for enough people to be a real "woefully inadequate" problem.

It's not. Sorry

I don't mind, if it's just 1GB I'll go for the 6 and pair it up with a new ipad when I comes out. Problem solved for me.

Too bad - now that the truth is out there, perhaps OCD people like you will stop going ballistic and stop hijacking tons of threads around here, making them unproductive to read.

Now lets get back to more important things, such as iOS 8 today and preparing to enjoy our new iPhone 6/+ coming Friday!!!

(There is one thing I’ve seen where animation on the iPhone 6 Plus sometimes gets jittery: the animation in Safari when you hit the Show Tabs button, and all open tabs glide into a scrollable 3D view. Sometimes, but not usually, this animation has jittered slightly on the 6 Plus. I haven’t seen the same thing on the regular 6.)

Yup. The obsession with Safari Tabs is about to go ballistic for the RAM whiner crowd. The Plus has graphical issues because of downscaling.

Just as SOMEONE (me) predicted.

I hate being right all the time.

Nah, not really, it's pretty awesome tbh.

That is one thing of concern for sure, and I've heard/seen it several places now.

While the plus has a higher clocked GPU and possibly CPU as well, clock speed does not mean performance is better. It may score better on a benchmark, but actual performance may not track that result.

For Apple to have bumped the clock speed, there is something that needs compensating for, and that something is the larger display and things like OIS when the camera is live. Otherwise, why not leave the clock speed along and have even better battery life?

In the real world, other things will be going on other than a single application testing the GPU/CPU performance. For example, does the benchmark test do things that games and apps actually do while testing GPU performance? I.E. play high quality audio, pre-render in the background, background data access, database access, other I/O? Not likely, and even if so, it's likely not going to be a real-world scenario analog.

This will likely be worse with apps that have to be scaled up until they are updated.

In any case, it's still a fine device. It will still perform better than most of not ll Android hardware.

In my humble opinion, the time to get an iPhone Plus will be the 6S Plus. GPU and CPU advancements, as well as hardware design advances that will make the phone itself smaller while retaining the larger screen size.

I develop apps for a living, so I will test these devices real-word... however personally I went with the iPhone 6 over the plus the second the hands-on guys started mentioning animation issues.
