I just finally decided to activate the 3G on my AT&T iPad.
OMG, the speed is pathetic.
I won't be renewing it at the end of the month.
I'll use my 4g T-mobile phone to tether when I need to.

What the hell are you talking about. My coverage and speed is solid where I live.

That's your bad for not researching beforehand.

In my area I was pulling .3-.8 Mbps on my Verizon iPad anytime of the day. Traded it in for the AT&T version which pulls 2-4.5 Mbps. Traveled to southern Cali, north of LA, and pulled 3 Mbps steadily. Win.

You need to get a clearwire 4G+ hotspot.. thats what i have, and the speeds are amazing, no blackspots.. no fallbacks.
Even Sprint is coming up with 4G plan.

Nah. Don't need t.
After this month, I'll just continue tethering to my 4g phone.
cheaper.

where did you find out about sprint? any link?

Was going to reply to the other thread but since I read down and saw your post I will add this. Sprint and Clearwire are the same, as in they both use the same "network" if you will, and thus have the same coverage. This is also true with the Time Warner 4G service they offer as Road Runner Mobile.

Since you mentioned you want a link with info, I will leave this: http://developer.sprint.com/site/global/home/4g/sprint_clearwire/sprint_clearwire.jsp

This is location dependent.
I avg 4.8 Mbps down & 1.3 Mbps up.
But I remember 300 baud modems, so I'm pleased with the speed. :)

While all wireless services are location dependent, AT&T has been on average about twice as fast in data services as Verizon. If the troll wanted to harp on AT&T, they could easily have gone with call drops and everyone would agree.

Driving right now, on my way to paintball.
AT&T 0.46 mbs.
T-mobile phone 5.6 mps.

Realworl, simultaneous test.

AT&T kicks ass in my neck of the woods. Just because you have poor quality in your trailer park doesn't mean it's like that everywhere.

That was a pretty funny comedy series on Showtime. Atleast I thought it was, my wife thought it was stupid. I was just joking about the trailerpark thing no hard feelings.

Hahaha, no hard feelings.

There was a tv show called Sherman oaks?

OK....So ATT doesn't work for you. Why are you so obsessed about proving it?

ATT obviously works well for many of us...not so well for some of us...Why do you feel the need to beat everybody over the head because ATT doesn't work for YOU?

Move on and quit beating the dead horse. Return/sell off this iPad and get yourself a Verizon version. I am sure ATT will lose no sleep losing you as a customer, and neither will we.

When I find a product that does not work for me, I deal with it, and move on.

I just activated my AT&T 3G service this morning. Took a drive up to the Catskill area. Elka Park to be specific.

I really didn't think I would find 3G service there. But low and behold 3G was available and worked like a charm. I'm impressed!

No contract. $ 15.00 a month for 250mb. I think I'm going to like this Ipad 3G.:D

In my town, AT&T customers constantly switches between 3G and Edge so it kills there battery lives and they can't get decent speeds most of the time.

Me? Four bars of 3G with Verizon in my pocket for a 50 mile radius before the first 2G spot but then only about a mile before 3G again.

We have both, and Verizon is faster overall (although there are some occasions where we get faster AT&T speeds, but these are only small pockets), hangs less on page loads, and has better coverage. True near our home and on a family road trip on I40 from OKC to Los Angeles.

Here in Utah I haven't really had any major complaints with AT&T. The coverage is better for Verizon, but personally my drop outs are few and the 99% of the time when it works the speed on AT&T is waaaaay better.

That said, I was back in New England for a funeral this past weekend (northern NH), and had next to no coverage at all, and when I did it was usually Edge. Verizon friends had decent coverage all over. So I guess it really depends on where you are. Any consistent signal (even a slow VZ one) is better then no signal on AT&T.

Wow I call your bs troll. I use an iPhone 4 3G AT&T and a Tmobile Jet 2.0 USB stick on a laptop daily. AT&T consistently outperforms Tmobiles 3.5G.
