Working for me but had to downgrade

I have MyWi 4.5.1 which worked fine when I was on 4.1. I used greenp0ison to upgrade to 4.2.1 and then installed MyWi. USB and WiFi work flawlessly as well as the onDemand feature. Bluetooth tethering worked once and after I disconnected never connected again. I downgraded back to 4.1 and installed MyWi 4.5.1 and everything is back to normal.

The other thing that is awesome about bluetooth tethering is that I can leave bluetooth enabled and when I need it I can tell my MBA to connect to it. That's one feature WiFi cannot duplicate.

So if you guys can try to downgrade to 4.1 and try MyWi 4.5.1

The developers (intelliborn) website says

Supported iDevices
iPhone 3G/3GS/iPhone 4 iPod Touch 1G, 2G, 3G
iOS versions: 3.1.2, 3.1.3, 4.0, 4.0.1, 4.1, 4.2.1 (partial)

I wonder if the 4.2.1 (partial) is the bluetooth problem

THey just posted 4.5.2 which is supposed to correct the Bluetooth tethering issues. I can now connect to my MacBook Air, but I get no internet connection. **SIGH** :(

"4.52.2" upgrade made bluetooth tethering work for me

After the upgrade to "4.52.2" (apparently a typo in the Cydia store) it is working for me and I am typing this post on my MBA via my bluetooth connection to my iPhone 4 (4.2.1 greenpois0n)

Bluetooth connected faster and download speeds are faster for me (compared to wi-fi).

My MBA seemed to take forever to connect via wi-fi (ad-hoc) and sometimes would fail. And sometimes timeout after a certain time (even with the disconnect feature was disabled under advanced settings).

Same here, 4.52.2 seems to have restored Bluetooth tethering on my laptop as well.

running 4.52.2 here, but still cannot connect through bluetooth. I do not get an ip address....

really wish I had just spent 3$ on tether-me

No joy with 4.52.2

My MBAir is able to pair with my i4 (4.2.1, pwnage jailbreak) via bluetooth but it never gets an IP address. I've tried setting it manually but I have no connectivity. USB and wifi pairing works fine, but bluetooth doesn't. $20 is a lot to spend for an app but I paid it happily since this allows me to get on-line at AT&T wifi hotspots, but I'd much rather use bluetooth than USB.

I've also noticed that when I try to toggle the BT tethering the wheel keeps spinning on the BT logo indefinitely. I have to go into the BT config and turn off BT tethering to make it actually turn off.

If intelliborn is reading this please fix it. Thanks.

Mine also connects but I get a weird DNS address. Try hardcoding the DNS server in your IP configuration to 8.8.8.8.

 MyWi doesn't get you on wifi networks, it turns your phone into a wifi network.

I'm guessing he uses his iPhone to get free access to ATT Wifi hotspots and then tethers that Wifi connection to his Mac/PC via MyWi USB or Bluetooth.

I see exactly the same issues. By the time they fix it, I'll have switched to something else. Worst $20 I have ever spent.....

I'm understanding what's the problem.

I am currently trying MyWi 4.52.2: upon startup it downloaded a trial license key and WiFi and USB are working just fine with that. Yet Bluetooth refused to work correctly: After pairing MBP and iP4, enabling bluetooth tethering in MyWi and adding a PAN entry to the MBP network configuration, the problem was that no IP was handled by MyWi DHCP to the MBP. Therefore the MBP gave himself an auto-ip (169.254.*.*), which of course is not helping.

As soon as I downloaded a trial OnDemand key via MyWi bluetooth tab, bang, IP assigned to the MBP. Therefore it seems Bluetooth tethering requires a MyWi OnDemand license, even for a laptop. Whether that's an overlook or by design I don't know.

(edit: sent an email to Intelliborn regarding the issue)

i think it's on the macbook air side of things. i had this problem with the versions of mywi, yet then i updated to lion 10.7 and suddenly i'm able to connect bluetooth to my macbook air.

I've used Bluetooth pairing for the past year because it eats less battery than WiFi, but since the update with OnDemand it no longer works.
My Roommate paid for the OnDemand license and his woks again, so that's definitely the problem.
I don't know if it was an oversight or intentional, but I'm not happy.

I'm hoping tetherme will activate the built in functionality for 4.3, then I may not need MyWi anymore

Solution!!!

I figured out how to successfully tether my iPhone 4 with MyWi to my MacBook.

First, you need to purchase the MyWi OnDemand service, yes it sucks that you have to pay more for it when you already paid for the app in the first place, but it does save your battery life and makes connecting way easier.

Second, you need to go into you iPhone settings (exit MyWi) and turn bluetooth on, wait here where it says looking for devices.

ON YOUR MAC, click the Bluetooth icon on the top menu bar, choose "set up device..." this will then find your phone, follow the steps and enter the code from the Mac on your iPhone.

DONE.

Now you can go into MyWi, set up the OnDemand service and it should work fine. This is what I did and it's working great for me.
