I tried PDAnet and was charged then tried MyWi and charged again. This was before tetherme exist. So for anyone who thinks that MyWi or any tethering app out there will 'hide' your usage, don't be naive.

Note that i am not in the states but i don't think that matters because I do not believe my local carriers are more superior than the ones in the states.

My bill shows how much data i used for tethering every month. If i don't tether then it will show zero.

So PDANet with the stealth mode is the only safe alternative or has that also been detected by the carriers?
What about iTether App that was available for a few hours?

PdaNet so called "stealth" still gets caught.
Its just a gimmick I think ti get people to buy it, carriers can still detect unofficial tethering.

That sucks.
I was lucky enough to get iTether while it was available.
Have only used it a few times and so far no notice.
Not sure if the carriers can detect it or not but I have been lucky so far.
I wonder if anyone with iTether have gotten any notice.

Im sure they can.
If you use it a little here and there even with other tethering apps chances are they wont bother looking into your usage.
If you start racking up big amounts of data then you're taking a risk.

Wrong. When you download TetherMe, you download a combination of packages that enable the phone to use the main data plan for tethering. This makes TetherMe even more indistinguishable. MyWi on the other hand is a single app, which means it has a signature code that can be easily identified and be traced back to one source. That's what's dangerous about MyWi; without this so-called "Stealth" mode it is easily trackable.

Not wrong. I got my messages when I was on TetherMe, however I believe it was a spike in data over two months, not tethering, that sounded the alarm.

Like I posted in another thread, using PDANet and AT&T EDGE is self-throttling!
(AT&T likely, even if they can "see" you tethering, probably don't care.)

i use tetherme all the time and I am on at&t. Have probably used 2gb in short spurts since the jailbreaks came out for the ipad2 and ip4. Last week was the first time I used it for a long period and roughly 500mb. So far, no letter or notice.

I think it is just a matter of time though, regardless of what you do. If you cant do the time, dont do the crime. I'll pay the piper, if that time comes. Until then, I will use my data as I see fit.

I just downloaded and started using Tetherme after being a MyWi user for the last couple years.

I found that MyWi was very buggy...it would work ok for a while and then my iPad (non jailbroken) would disconnect or it would show it's still connected but no data would come through. I would have to restart the phone to get it to work again. Tehterme seems to work just fine and I love the simplicity of it.

One thing I did like about MyWi is the wifi bridging, Tetherme doesn't seem to do that.
