i thought i was loosing it but i too have the same problem using mywi using usb tethering. it was working fine before i updated and jailbroke with greenpo. theres obviously something not right and the recent update didnt fix the issue. the issue seems to be surfacing up on other forums as well.

I am having the same issue. I am also using the latest Mywi from Cydia.

No USB tethering on Mac 10.6 or Win 7. WiFi still works. I originally jailbroke with Limera1n and then restored and jailbroke with Greenpois0n. Same problem. It might have something to do with changes to the USB drivers in 4.1. Netshare and PDAnet don't work either.

If all you are looking for is the ability to tether you could just use the FREE Wortel file to patch commcenter. It has been updated for 4.1 and this only takes a couple minutes to install and execute.

PdaNet 4.18 claims to work with iOS 4.1. Anyone using it? If so, does it create an ad hoc network like MyWi?

MyWi & USB Tethering Problem

Ladies and Gents,

I had the same problem with the latest 4.8.3 update. All I had to do is via Cydia, remove MyWi completely, reboot my iPhone, then go back to Cydia and re-install MyWi. After I re-installed, I rebooted the iPhone and I no longer get the 'acquiring network' message. I hope this helps you all suffering souls...

No workie here too with MyWi 4.8.3 + iOS4.1 combo here.

My Macbook Pro sees the iPhone USB connection just fine, but rather than showing a green 'ok' status light, has a yellow light -- status indicating self-assigned ip address with no internet access.

WiFi tethering works like a charm btw. Very odd!

Not here either

Okay I have a jailbroken iPhone on 3.1.3 and USB tethering works fine on my vista laptop, but my new desktop with 7 64-bit, nothing.

Could it be a problem with windows 7?

Only other variant is laptop has iTunes 8.2 installed and 7 has iTunes 10 64 bit.

... so USB tethering started to work the other day, when I tried it, and I haven't a explanation for it.

my tether not working either

i had the jailbreakme jailbreak before as well and mywi worked excellent now only the wifi tether will work. please let me know if anyone has figured this out,

I think I have a fix!

I went to Cydia and drilled down to the MyWi page under manage packages and noticed a message on the screen. "Thanks for purchasing MyWi 4.0! If you haven't done so press here to open MyWi 4.0 and update the license." MyWi opened and shortly rebooted the phone and now all seems well. Typing this on desktop connected to Internet via USB on iPhone.

Sort of fixed. Seems like I have to do this each time I want to use it.

I've been having problems with USB tethering to my MacBook pro from my iPhone 4. Emailed intelliborn and their support has been pretty helpful. They emailed me a link to a new beta, and it's working great. Can't speak for windows users, but they have fixed it for osx. I'm sure we can expect an official update soon. Email them with a syslog if your having trouble, so they can fix it for you. It's been working great for 2 days for me now.

Nice:)
Just hope 4.2 doesn't break it again.

So, it's been working solid over USB for me now for 2 days or so. I've had a couple of crashes upon disconnect reconnect, but nothing major. It's a beta, so it is forgiven. I've also had to restart my phone, not just respring, if I want to switch from tethering to normal usage, but the beta updated again today so hopefully that will be fixed. I'll keep you updated.
