Thanks for the pics! I prefer the silver bezel as well, but what is that thin black strip (plastic? rubber?) around the bezel? I wish it were lighter coloured.

There is just something "not right" about that metal bezel on the matte screen ones. I still wonder why they didn't just go with black...

I personally think it looks better - crisper lines, and not as oppressive looking as with the other MBP's / my XPS 16. In the case of the matte, the black remains an accent (with the rubber surround and black base) along with the keyboard - which might look better if it was still silver, but that leads to practical problems as on the previous MBP.

However it looks though, the matte is unarguably more useful for people who actually get out of their dimly lit basements on a regular basis. I wish it was an option on the smaller machines - especially the 13", which being actually somewhat practically portable, gets used that way often - at least by me. I just do not understand why people - especially among the many Mac users who call themselves professionals of some sort of another - are demanding or praising this completely unusable display style. No other manufacturer is dumb enough to use this style on their actually professional lines. Does this unintentionally betray the pure-consumer play of Apple's 'Pro' gear? Or does everyone use it as a DTR, too precious to take it outside

I definitely prefer the matte screen over the glossy. The metal vs. black bezel is a wash for me. Not a big deal, but I do kinda like the metal on my MBA and MBP.

I used to use my iBook outside all the time. Now, even though the glossy is so much brighter, it's also 10x less usable outside than a matte screen. I would love to go outside and photograph stuff and then quickly edit it on my MBP, but I can't. I just wish Apple would at least acknowledge that matte is superior outside.

It looks much better in person.

I first wanted to get the black. But when i saw how reflective that glossy screen was i said no thank you! Smudges all over make it very ugly also and in comparison the matte version (at least in my opinion) looks actually better. The fancy PR pics on apple site are a bit deceiving because the glossy version looks pretty and clean there. But once you're in a real room situation and different lights/ lighting and environment it can get really annoying to see it all reflected in the screen.

I really don't know, but I think that the black bezel makes the computer look as if the computer had been planned for years, and the entire package is sweet, even when the screen is off.. And I think that the matte screen isn't that great, because the brightness is lower then the brightness on the glossy. I have the 15" glossy Unibody, but I've seen my friend's matte screen 15" Unibody, and the screen brightness and the response time of the monitor is completely different. I play tons of games on mine, so I have to have the glossy, but I guess that people who really hate seeing themselves while editing a photo should get the matte... It all comes down to a matter of preferences.

Not Matte...

I find it very interesting that on all apples paperwork, the call our screen "Anti-Glare", not Matte or non-glossy. I think "Anti-glare" says it all. I think it says if you are in an environment where glare could be a problem, buy THIS Mac.
Both are stunningly beautiful! ;)

Hmm, I have to say that the silver bezel on the unibody MBP look awful. I was very hesitant buying a glossy unibody MBP but now I have one I wouldn't go back to matte again. I love glossy now and I don't find I have the reflection issues like other people.:):p
