So what are you all going with for your new iPhone 5s? I know there are also various combos of these as well.

Naked
Skin
Bumper
Case

Also, along with those, risk handling the iPhone or add AppleCare/SquareTrade?

I'm leaning towards a $10 bumper or $12 BSE skin along with SquareTrade ($89 2-year plan). Just wanted to get your opinions/preferences too. Thanks!

I've got both a Mophie and a BodyGlove case that I had for my 5, though I am sure I'll pick up new ones, whenever something catches my eye.

I skipped AppleCare+ this time, in favor of the insurance through Sprint that gives full coverage, including loss and theft.

Somehow, just reading the title of the thread...I knew you would post!:D

I use a leather slip case...so when I use the phone it's naked.

I, while using the naked phone...well...never mind. It's not a pretty picture!

Slim glider case for me.

Gives me good full-body protection plus a small lip for lay on the table design & front screen protection if it drops.

I have the leather case now but might get rid of it. It's hiding the beauty of this new phone. I got the space gray

Thou doth know me well! ;-)

Now…about this naked thing…. I really feel that we need to discuss this further…

Your phone is far too sexy for that!

I want to rock the phone naked but it just feels so delicate that I don't like setting it down on certain surfaces unprotected. I got the red leather case, which is cool, but I'm finding myself frequently taking it off to enjoy the gold finish.

Same here.

Aluminum is a soft metal and I value my iPhone too much to risk getting a bunch of scuffs along the chamfered edges.

I say get the slim $10 case and enjoy the phone in pristine condition (as well as higher resale value).

Right now I'm using a bumper from Monoprice with BestSkinsEver backing. I do have the Apple Black Leather Case, but I like seeing dat iPhone a**. :D So I stick with the bumper.

Probably a case. I used to use skins a lot with the 4 and 4S (and would switch the skins up frequently and reuse them), but they cling so damned well to the aluminum part of the 5's back (and the 5s's, i'm assuming) that removing them stretches them beyond repair. So that's out, which kinda sucks.

Red leather apple case on space grey.

I tried black leather apple but said I wanted to go naked.

Went naked and it felt great but I know this thing will scratch an I need all my gadgets flawless. Also the red case looks cool and it's product red so hopefully this purchase actually helps somebody I'm some way.

I am keeping a simple back cover/attachment on my white iPhone 5 by Grovemade (Skateback - Vibrant) - attached is a photo I took of it last week!

When I go out on long trips with friends/family, keep it tucked inside a MediaDevil Leather Pouch Black/Red.

Case, I use the black leather case from Apple with the space grey and it looks so sleek and sexy. Paid $790 for this I'm not taking chances.

I had this exact same combo on my wife's iPhone 5. In her car, she has bluetooth built in so the lightning power cord connected fine to the charger even with the Monoprice bumper (which looks nice with the space gray or slate).

However, for my car which is a little older, I don't have built-in bluetooth and connect with the power and aux-in. I have a Griffin adapter that has a single 30-pin connector to go to the iPhone and provides power and the audio. When I had the iPhone 5, I had to use it without the bumper (just a BSE skin) along with the rip-off $29 Apple 30-pin to lightning adapter.

For my new iPhone 5s, I'd like to use a bumper, but to do so I need to get the $39 Apple 30-pin to lightning CABLE or get a $40-$45 Bluetooth/AUX adapter for the car. Either way, if I want to use a bumper, I have to add about 40 bucks.

Factoring that in, maybe I should just go with a skin again and put the money towards the Squaretrade plan. Hmmm....

I hear you. I'm thinking of going naked also. I do have AppleCare+. If I keep buying cases, it's like paying the deductible in the event I do need it. BTW didn't the deductible use to be $49? I don't remember it going to $79.

For the iPhone 5, the deductible was $50 (I actually used it once). But for the 5s they raised it to $79. That is why if I get a warranty it will definitely be with Squaretrade. $50 deductible for them, and up to 4 incidents, not just 2. And they allow you to get it fixed/replaced at the Apple Store Genius Bar too.
