If you find Obama Bin Laden so offensive, I say you don't belong in a forum discussing politics.

It depends - calling the president "Obama bin Laden" is insulting, but is not a direct personal insult directed at a forum member. However, repeated use of the phrase for the purpose of inflaming other members is trolling, as hellhammer pointed out.

The PRSI forum doesn't need different rules, but its content is always going to require more careful assessment by both members (potential post-reporters) and moderators, since most of the topics are controversial by nature. A heated argument is not automatically going to be breaking the rules even if it becomes very tense. It's also possible for feelings to be hurt without any rules being broken, with the current thread perhaps being an example of that.

And i believe thats only becuase i was reported on by a member thats been here a lot longer than i have.

I can tell you now this is not true. As a moderator since 2007 I can honestly say I have never issued, or witnessed, any moderation based on the length of time that the reporter has over the reportee, in fact the over riding concern when dealing with a reported post is: "Does the post violate the forum rules" not who has reported the post.

The issue of who reported the post is hardly ever taken into consideration, the only times I can think that this would be a concern of the moderator would be such as personal feud between two members, although in this case the question of "does the post violate the forum rules" is still the main priority. Also it comes up with incorrect post reports so we can direct the member about the rule in question etc.

its pretty much ONLY liberals in the PRSI...

I made a comment one time (and i wasent really trying to be mean about it) I said "a bunch of the liberals around here act like they have a stick up their ass"..and i got banned for 3 days for saying that..yet there is much worse stuff that goes on in there that no one every does anything about. And i believe thats only becuase i was reported on by a member thats been here a lot longer than i have.

And I've gotten timed out many times for saying stupid things I shouldn't have in PRSI, and I'm a liberal. The mods aren't out to get you or conservatives.

And your last statement is purely speculation. You don't know who reported you, if anyone even did.

You attract more bees with honey than vinegar. I don't think a rule change is necessary and if a person offends you so much, use the block feature.

Thanks for your answer...and I might say that our comments on the P issue have been deleted. At least I can't find them. I suppose that word or comments concerning it is not allowed. Anyway we are in total agreemnet on that issue. It is not good viewing.
They were deleted because they were off-topic.
