It's quite silky to the touch and I don't notice any graininess unless I really look for it. The texture is very fine and not rough at all.

I had an ESR PaperFeel and that was rough - it was awful.

I've had a PaperLike on another iPad and that was better than the ESR offering and was actually quite good.

Both the PaperFeel and PaperLike marked easily from my keyboard case as the plastic is soft. The toughened glass of the Mothca does not have a mark on it. It's flawless.

As I already had a Mothca matte screen protector on my iPhone I decided to check if they had one for the iPad. It's way better than the PaperLike and the ESR PaperFeel.

I've not had the chance to compare it to Apple Nano-Texture so can't give an opinion on what's better. If Nano-Texture is batter than it's going to have to be pretty fricken amazing. If you don't have a 1TB or 2TB iPad Pro then this is definitely your best option and it's not expensive.
I have both the other 2 you mention, the reason they are rough is to recreate the paper feel with the Apple pencil. That's what you don't like. ESR feels much more like paper than Paperlike, but is also much more grainy. A glass protector will not feel like paper, it can feel better on the fingers but not with a pencil. Often the rougher it is the grainier it is.
But something can be perfectly smooth and grainy because of the way the matte effect was made.

To not notice graininess unless you really look for it is very subjective. I didn't notice it either because in the past all my iPads had a screen protector, but since tandem oled I decided to not use a screen protector so now I see the difference. Also I didn't have Paperlike until recently, which is the least grainy one.
My M4 standard glass and my M4 nano look great. My M1 Paperlike is not as good but at least it's not grainy. My M2 ESR paperfeel is grainier but has the best pencil feel and is more matte than Paperlike (but less than nano).
And then I have other iPads with screen protectors from less know brands such as Techgrear or Atfolix (German brand) which are very matte and pretty grainy but on dark mode you barely notice.

Most people just have one screen protector on one iPad, or if they have had several like you, it's probably not at the same time, so it's not easy to compare graininess or reflectivity just by recollection.

Whenever someone say their screen protector is great I generally buy it and try it. I did it recently with someone on this tread. I imported it from the US to Europe (it will arrive next week) for my mini 6 and will give feedback here. It's from KTC and they said it looked as good as nano, we'll see. But I am running out of iPads to test since, although I have many, they are all covered already. But if I get another iPad I'll try teh motcha too and report back.

My take and experience on Nano..
I have both regular and Nano on 13 and 11 inch M4 iPad.
I use this on my 13 inch screen:

and TBH, it looks almost identical to the Nano on my 11 inch.

Here's why I think I won't go Nano in the future and why.

Resell value.

Some people HATE the Nano screen, takes away from the colors, etc..

This little $9 screen protector gives you the Nano texture and allows you to just remove it if you hate it.

Just something to think about when purchasing.

Save the $100 and just get the PaperNano, or try it..

It's $9, see what you think.
So as mentioned, I did order one, imported all the way from the US to Europe for $20, half of which was shipping.
I received it last week and just installed (the instructions and tools were as good as Paperlike, so the installation was easy and without issue).
Here is my feedback:
It's nowhere near Nano or Paperlike in terms of grain. It's very grainy on white background. And as with all grainy screen protector, the best solution is to use dark mode so that you rarely si white backgrounds.
In terms of reflections it's slightly less reflective than Paperlike (which is pretty reflective) but definitely not as good as Nano. But this I expected, seeing the marketing pictures.
The issue that bothers me the most, however, is friction, there is a ton of friction both with fingers, but especially with the pencil, while nano is very smooth and Paperlike is in between. And no other brand I have tried has this much friction. Definitely not like paper, makes the pencil "sticky".
So "This little $9 screen protector gives you the Nano texture"... not even close...
Pretty bad purchase.
Having said that it was for my mini 6, which will be sold when I get the mini 8, so I'll keep it until then...
