As someone who looked 14 until I turned 20, telling someone's age from appearance can be very deceiving.
And for those traveling to China, please DO be careful and watch out for those little underage chinese gymnasts who are after your gold. Seriously people, with a war already in Iraq and another starting in Georgia, the presidential elections coming up, and the current state of the economy, are we such poor losers that we are still talking about this?
And Bela Karolyi - I can't believe we are letting him run his mouth off and embarrassing our country.
Finally, can I just say GROSS! I don't know of any 18 year olds whose dad kisses them and grabs them like this.....why don't NBC make something out of that? I don't care what culture this is, but it is wrong!

A lot of cultures do that. Especially Europe and some Asian countries. The fathers are close to their daughters, and usually kiss them on their lips when departing or greeting. I don't think it's disgusting, then again, I would never kiss my dad on the lips because i wasn't raised in a culture that does so.

Phelps underwent drug testing far beyond what the normal olympic athlete goes through. His body is built for swimming, nothing else to say about it.
And I disagree with you on one thing: the Chinese girls did NOT deserve to win since they shouldn't have been there for begin with. There might be better 14 year old girls someplace else so just because they won doesn't mean they are the "best."

Yea some people are just ignorant to other cultures... my family is from eastern europe and it normall to kiss friends and relatives on the cheeks. When I was younger my parents used to kiss me on the lips, no big deal.
