Channels reports they use libhdhomerun so maybe not.
What provider are you with? Comcast, TWC, etc. I am with Verizon FIOS. I am curious about channels are flagged with DRM. And if in a particular area. I am in the Los Angeles Area and besides Premium Channels like HBO, only FOX Cable Channels (like Business and News) are flagged as DRM. I heard that TWC flags all but just the lower ones normal found OTA.
Comcast in SW Florida, Fort Myers/Naples. (No TWC here, yay). Preferred tier (Discovery, Nat Geo, Smith) which also includes DRM channels for Starz, Encore & MGM. We don't use Premium (DRM). Like you, used EyeTV & old Dual OTA. Added a Prime, was still able to use EyeTv, however changed to WMC (on an Acer Revo) to utilize DRM. Originally recorded to networked WD MyBook (currently WD MyCloud, single disk like yours) by utilizing symlink.
Also, waiting on SiliconDust DVR (DRM) solution. Monitor forums, but did not join kickstarter. Highest regards for SD hardware products, but very leery of SW capabilities, based on earlier View apps, (2 years) with crippled HD display, while EyeTV (IOS) was excellent on first draft, in addition to many UPnP players.
We do series (time shift watch and delete) and one off recordings (SD struggling with this process), one off setup usually 1-2 weeks in advance, but also early on day of broadcast. Although we hardly use "Live TV", we will pause live TV and then FF through commercials (paused live & records). Hardly archive any content, so we don't need the elegance of an Infuse, although it is great for Home Videos (with thumbnails), but irritating with delays for viewing TV recordings. It has been the same on IOS version, since inception.
Our use cases don't warrant the complexity of MrMC, and I was never a fan of Kodi. Not interested in a "supercomputer" server (always on) based solution, either. Definitely, don't want to rename, organize, remux, transcode, MCE buddy, etc. Just watch, FF commercials and delete.
The App based ATV4 can only improve and within 6 weeks is almost ready to be our HDMI 1 (at least for non DRM viewing). For DRM live viewing one can use an Android HDMI stick. Sylver solved the deinterlacing issue with WTV (WMC recordings), which was a major impediment for our use. NAStify is well on the road to becoming my "dream" player. With a few more improvements (already identified for future inclusion), it may become our sole non-DRM player.
I like Sylver's attitude, interaction with all types of users, allegiance to his core application, and focus to improve NAStify. And, NAStify is a "killer" app.
