Since Apple maps is being integrated with services like Yelp & OpenTable, wouldn't it make sense for the directions to do a time check if you ask for directions there? For instance, if it is 8:35 and you put directions into a restaurant that closes at 9:00 and your ETA isn't until 9:15, shouldn't Apple maps alert us to such? Obviously the bigger and more accurate Yelp gets, the more reliable this would be. But it just seems like an incredibly obvious feature to include.

Build in GasBuddy integration into Apple Maps, sort of like Yelp/OpenTable. Being able to quickly to see where the cheapest gas on my route is would be very beneficial.

Is it possible to maybe make the green box with the next turn smaller? I want to see more map, not next turn so much

It does show and update automatically...

That looks so freaking terrible.

Meanwhile on Android...

Night driving mode - not enough to just dim the display. dark coloured maps would be better.
It's not exactly what you want, but are you aware that you can set up your device to invert the colors of the display with a triple-click of the home button in the accessibility options?

slightly more angle to help see turns down a long straight
You can adjust the angle with two fingers swiping up or down.

Actually that looks 'freaking terrible'. There is information all over the place, which while driving, I don't particularly want to look all around the screen to find the information I want.

Apples maps are clean and simple with all of the information I need in one place. The only feature I would like added would be speed camera alert in the countries that allow it.

Why would I need or want images on the phone of what's literally right in front of me? The most important information is the route ahead, which iOS Maps (as well as most other navigation apps and devices) puts front and center with no distractions.

I wish it was a cross between android and apple.

Start with the base of Apple, but make apples next turn sign like androids, and move the ETA on the same row as that next turn.

I don't need a green sign that shows the next turn to take up 1/4th of the screen

Yea, if only google maps had different views and layers :D

I must say that image on the left is pretty impressive. People who act like there is no value in losing streetview can't honestly look at that picture and tell me there is no value in it.

thats an interesting workaround but i think apple could do something more elegant. the phone is clearly clever enough to know when its night time and when to switch automatically to a night mode. tom-toms app does it.

does the swiping work while in navigation mode? i will have to try it tomorrow?

Hey does anyone know how accurate the ETA time is and whether it is taking into account traffic you may have not encountered yet?

I'm curious to this as well.

That's the one gripe I have regarding my standalone GPS... it tends to be too optimistic with ETAs. Any traffic, or even getting caught at a stop light, will make it inaccurate.

Traffic is taken into account when calculating ETA. It uses TomToms traffic information which are mostly very accurate.

As for the general accuracy of the ETA, I don't know. Haven't really kept an eye on that because I only used navigation for short trips so far.
