Thanks. What is bottom line pricing for Navigon?

You can buy the regional version for $19.99 then use the in-app Fresh Maps XL purchase and you'll get ALL of North America maps including Canada, Hawaii, Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Your total would be $44.98 and you'll get map updates every three months (quarterly) for at least two years.

You can also buy traffic for $19.99 if you want as well as a couple other in-app purchase options.

Roads change every day. You never know when you're going to hit a new/changed road. That being said. MOST roads stay the same for a very long time, and the chances of you needing the update is very small.

For your occasional "vacation" traveling (mostly interstate/county highways), a map update every couple years will suffice. However, if you have a personal delivery business or the like, you'll want to update often as new neighborhoods and residential streets are developed all the time.

If you plan on utilizing the business finder in the GPS, then you'll want to update more often as new restaurants and hotels pop up all over the place quite often.

For me, I have a 3 year old Garmin that works great. Haven't ever updated it...haven't ever gotten lost either.

Quarterly is every 3 months, not 4.

You made me actually have to think and do math. haha
Same here. I'm mad now.

They're obviously in the midst of rearranging their product line though. Don't forget, they were bought by Garmin, who also has a navigation app of it's own on iOS.

It'll all be sorted out. Until then, just do the cheapest combo.

You know, I think you really can't go wrong with any of them. One might do something better than another or one may have something that others don't, but it seems like they are all very close and in the end they will get you to where you're going equally well.

Can you purchase Fresh Maps XL at a later date?

You can but after November 27th its going to go up in price. Right now from what I have been able to gather the XL update is on sale along with the app. Later the regular price will be double what it is now. That's why it's such a good deal now.

I've never tried Navigon but the pricing structure looks pretty bad with its Fresh Maps implementation compared to Garmin's $29.99 app. I don't know if Garmin will update maps for free but $30 for North America is a great deal out of the others.
