The year of the upsets is the best term I heard so far for it. It was a long list of just upset after upset this year. high ranking teams being pick off by unranked teams.

Missouri should be in it before OU is OU lost some really stupid games to teams they should not of lost to. Texas Tech upset on them should remove them from any hope of doing that.

Ah, but who do they play against? That's the million dollar question. IMO, it should be LSU. Georgia didn't even win their division, much less their conference title, LSU did. The same argument works against Kansas too, so it's extremely hard to justify either one of them getting in. And Virginia Tech lost by 41 earlier this year to LSU. No matter who gets picked tomorrow night, there is going to be major controversy though. All the more reason for an 8 team playoff...
I don't think a playoff system will work that well, though. Instead of arguing who is number 1 and 2, people will be arguing who is 7, 8, and 9. It will still be, what I call, the Rock, Paper, Scissors argument. A beat B, B beat C, and C beat A! Who's the best? Who deserves in? The only way would be to have a playoff in each conference (and I'm talking about an actual playoff, not just a conference championship game.) and the winner of each conference have a playoff to determine the national champion. But then you run into problems with independent schools, and the season becoming too long because you still need a regular season. Unfortunately, I think whatever they do, there will always be people that are upset and think the system is horrible.

Again, the Rock, Paper, Scissor argument... OU beat Missouri twice! But Missouri is more deserving? I don't think either are deserving. Nor is LSU.

LSU is 7 on the BSC poll. Should they really jump all those schools that didn't play or even won to make the NCG? I don't think so. OU is 9 and they beat the #1 team! What did LSU do? They beat the #15 team. I think OU should jump LSU if anything. I think that OSU should play Georgia. Even though they didn't win their division. They are still ranked 4 and minus Mizz and WVU that puts them at #2 behind OSU.

I understand there is lots of controversy but that's what I love about it. And arguing/discussing with you fine folks about who should make the big game. :D

One difference between OU and Mizz. Mizz did not lose to an unrank school. OU was pretty badly embrassed in lubbock being #4 rank and pretty getting beaten. I was at the game and for the most part it was a fairly boring game. from the end for the 1st quarter Tech controlled the game. Hell the game 2 years ago was much more rush the field worthy because of the tension at the end. Field was rushed because it was a pretty big upset and honestly it was not a close game at all. OU down by 2 touch downs with no times out left. All tech needed to do was get the ball and the game was over. OU score tech gets the ball and game over. It was a game that clearly showed how over rated OU was.

No school that loses like that deserves to be in the BSC bowl.
No school that loses to an unranked school should be in the BSC. If OU is in the big game then BSC has even more proof that it is crap and worthless. Kansas is and Mizz are both more deserving of it. They both have better records in the the big 12. The big 12 south this year was weak. I have never seen so many schools just get beaten. The power houses clearly this year where over rated. OU losing to unranked Texas Tech. Texas losing to an unranked Texas A&M. We could go on.

At least Kansas and Mizz loses where to ranked opponents.

BSC chaos, again. :D I think OSU goes against LSU for #1, though who really knows which deserves a #1 after it's said and done. Georgia will make its claim, but you have to at least win your conference to be considered. Hawaii? Doubt it.

The folks at ESPN in your state might as well use a dartboard and throw darts to pick BCS #1 to #4--it won't be much different than what the BCS voters and computers will end up with.
Here we go, again. Forget the BCS. How long will this crippled system limp its way in to Januarys?

Colt Brennan for Heisman.

Screw Tim Tebow, his team lost 3 games.
Screw McFadden, his team lost 4 games.

Brennan went 12-0. Last Saturday he was 42/50 with 5 touchdown passes. 38 touchdowns, 14 int.

Agreed.

Hawaii should also be in the title game. They are, after all, the ONLY team to beat everyone they played, wherever, whenever, whoever. Then again, we all know the BCS isn't about determining the true national champion--it's merely an excuse to pretend we have one and to keep lots of money in the BCS conferences' pockets.

How about Dennis Dixon for the Heisman? Given Oregon's record before his injury (8-1) and afterward (0-3), it's tough to imagine somebody more valuable to his team than Dixon. 20 TDs to 4 INT through ten games, and 9 rushing TDs besides, and two games he played on a torn ACL. If he weren't injured right now, he would be the clear favorite, and he would get my vote if I had one.

Barring Dixon, I would go with Colt Brennan.

******** Championship System ftl!

Daveman--

An eminently reasonable suggestion, although the award goes to the "most outstanding" player, not necessarily the most valuable.

That said, Glenn Dorsey simply HAS to be one of the most outstanding players in the country.....even if he was hurt later in the season.

I get fed up with all the intellectual dishonesty around Division 1A college football. The Heisman almost never goes to the "most outstanding" player, the "national champion" is not decided on the field, and all the conference blowhards insist that theirs is better than another, despite all evidence to the contrary. Example--the SEC went 1-3 in head to head matchups with the Big Ten in bowl games last year, but SEC fans still think their conference was "better."

Feh!
