more for the post warranty support. Bose gives pretty good residual values to their products. I was able to get $200 of store credit for my QC2's towards the QC15's and they even let me strip the QC2's clean of all parts, so I can re-use them later on the QC15's if something breaks.

My original sounddock only lost a quarter of its value after 5 years. Traded the sucker in for a brand new sounddock portable for just $179, $230 off the $400 price.

...mmm when you're buying headphones, GOOD headphones, from actual established manufacturers like AKG, Klipsch, Shure, Sennheiser, Grado, you don' thave to worry about insurance. These phones work for years. And by years I meant at least 5.

People get sucked into marketing and end up buying something from a brick and mortar store, which in relation to headphones is where you can go very wrong, very quick.

Bose? Highly overpriced for bloated sound that isn't worth over 100 bucks. Yes you get noise cancellation but a good pair of cans like the Sennheiser HD25s will over you the same if not more isolation with a heck of a lot better sound quality.

I think this relates to accessories, but my question is about Microsoft Office and downloading once Lion comes out. My Office disc has 0 downloads left, and when Lion comes out, will i need to re download Office? I want to do a clean install on the laptop and wipe everything. I guess my question is whether or not re downloading Office will count as a new download?

Well seeing as when you install lion it'sgoing to he... well technically new, I'd think that you're going to need a new installer. Is there a way to take one install Bacon like uninstall on one machine and get a new one?

Of course, you could always just backup one of the Macs and and when you get lion retransfer all of the data... that should work.

I would definately go with Iwork, it is alot better looking, and a lot nicer than the 'office' junk. A case is necessary, (look at some threads), as well as a lock for your laptop. A wireless mouse will also be nice for work that is not on the go.

Also it works better with things like EndNote

Wow, so programs are better because of looks...hmm...

I would definitely go with office, it's the most widely used format so you won't get any compatibility issues.

You can obviously save in office formats from iWork and it's not so bloated that it takes up half your RAM per program.

I have an anti-glare screen protector on my MBP, which was only $10. You should definitely get that. And a sleeve. Also, I went with iLife and am not regretting it.

Not the OP, but I have the same question

Here is what the general consensus for "necessary" accessories:

1) External Hard Drive Western Digital Passport 500GB USB
2) Wireless Mouse I'll be finding a used/refurbished Apple Magic Mouse for ~$40
3) Case/Sleeve
4) Microsoft Office
5) Headphones S4i In-Ear Headphones
6) Stand
7) Flash Drive 4GB Samsung Drive
8) External Monitor Dell 23" Widescreen
9) Keyboard
10) Clear/Plastic Hardcase

I have a few of these items already, so that's good to hear. I plan to find a copy of MS office online or buy it for $50 at my college computer store. I like the Waterfield suede jacket sleeve, I definitely want a sleeve, less is more to me, but that one doesn't have a zipper on the end. I'll find a magic mouse on ebay or craigslist and save $30. Do I really need a stand? What is the benefit, for $50, it seems as if I could do without. I don't really know about the external keyboard either, I plan to just use my macbook's keyboard. I'm also worried that if I get a plastic hard-case, I'll have trouble fitting it into a sleeve.
