I would just buy local and save money. Save money and spend it on upgrades. I assure you that if you upgraded to 16gb and an SSD Harddrive that it would run a lot faster than a stock next generation. (Assuming they don't drastically change their standards.)

I bet there will be a price increase...it has happened in the past. The current low end 15" is 1800usd. The 2009 low end 15" was 1500usd.

What kind of producer requires his intern to go out and drop $2000 on a Macbook? Doesn't sound like someone I would want to work with, or learn the habits of.

Do you think the 2.2 GHz vs 2.4 GHz would impact audio work much?

it might help you run more plug ins at once though.

but regardless if you can wait as much as 2 weeks I would, 'cause at the moment despite what some sceptics may say, 2 weeks is very realistic (but no one can be sure)

'cause priced have generally gone down over the past few updates, and buying at the end of an update cycle gets you very poor value for money, and if you wait the 2 weeks you could get a machine that could last a whole year longer

the only problem is if pro tools will support the new hardware straight away or if you'll have to wait another month before you can install pro tools

I would get a refurb and no look back. Get going on this opportunity with the internship... Besides, I'm beginning to think that the upshot of the refresh will be just that - a minor refresh. No retina display, nothing major - except maybe a removed SuperDrive. That would be a deal breaker for a lot of us, and then refurbs will be even harder to get with the right specs.

....And this new round of rumors indicating 2 weeks makes no sense. WWDC maybe; but that's way more than 2 weeks out. Try 6 weeks, then it's 2 more before you might be able to get one that you want realistically.
