spoke to soon..

Didn't realize that was the case. I used billmelater several years ago to buy a camera from B&H, but never had to apply for an actual credit card; billmelater simply sent me a statement each month.

I'm with the other posters though in terms of your parents; do it yourself!

I looked deeper into the bill me later. Seems I spoke to soon. You have to choose it @ checkout not off billmelater.com. In all, all I have to say is thanks.

I got a 15" MBP on the way. I really like the configuration. Cheaper than configuring a new one.

It's people like me, who thrive on Instant gratification and credit, who ruin the economy.

Billmelater and interest rate

Isn't bill me later like 20% interest?

Eh... Congratz on the newBook Pro

No. Or at least not when I used it; you have options, i.e., 3 months no payment/interest; 6 months no interest and 12 months no interest. However, if you don't pay in full within the prescribed time, yes, interest applies.

As for the posters feeling that using credit cards is stupid. I am a 48 year old female, own a house, car and have a fairly decent job. The only way I can afford to purchase a new item such as a MacBook Pro would be credit, mostly because the "kids" in my life have drained my cash flow dry  However, my credit is also solid, I make my payments on time and very rarely buy myself anything above $9.99 (books for Kindle). So I believe it depends on the individual's situation. For the OP, using billmelater is actually an ideal way to BUILD credit, as long as he/she plays by the rules. :)

I'm worried about this thread, in the beginning you were depending on your broke parents taking out loans for you and now you ended up buying it on credit anyway.

Don't sites like billmelater add like 5-10% to the owed amount regardless of how fast you pay them back?

I didn't have that experience with billmelater (interest added). After the OP stated he was able to get billmelater; I've been looking at reviews on the web about their service and I have to admit there are TONS of complaints. I had a good experience with them and I only hope the OP throughly researched them before signing up and didn't just sign up on my suggestion to check them out, 'cuz I'll really feel badly if something goes wrong for him.

I did do a lot of research before I committed to bill me later. I also read the entire terms and conditions. Even their 2009 version. I know that I have committed to 20% interest. I should have this paid off within months, if not weeks. And have 90 days no payments, 12 month no interest.

I have loved all Apple products for years. (Except the iPad) And hopefully buying a new Macbook Pro, after the update. Which could be any day now...

I am looking in to different payment avenues and not having any luck.

I am under 18, have gotten my parents to agree to helping me purchase a MBP, having them apply for numerous credit cards, including barclaycard and looking into "small" loans. They have all turned them down.

I can save for one but it would take many months, if not years. I really need one for school asap.

Any ideas? Advice as to how I should do this? I would really appreciate the help.

You do not NEED a Macbook Pro for school. You WANT a Macbook Pro. If you (or your parents) can't afford it, then perhaps you should look into cheaper alternatives.

I have a very good job that pays well over average in my area. I guess I just like instant gratification.
Above average, as in above minimum wage? What are you, an assistant manager at your local McDonald's?

I work weekends for well over minimum wage ($10/ hr.) and now have a supplemental job @ a graphic design firm, thanks to my new MBP purchase. ;)
