Intend to purchase a mist maker from an online platform in China (those gadget that gives out mist around a rock waterfall formation or aquarium). The spec voltage stated is 24V. I have not come across any country has such a low voltage. Our country voltage is 230/240V. I wrote to them they didn’t reply. They already have 500+ orders presumably from different parts of the world. I’m not an electrician. I want to play safe and be sure. Is it suitable for our country?

Tks for advise

Er.. sorry means what? Our country standard voltage is 230V and frequency is 50 Hz. Pls treat me like a primary kids and advise what should I do. Can or cannot buy their gadget?

Your iPhone needs 5v for charging.
Most of a pc runs on 3.3 or 5v

This is despite being plugged into the wall at 230/240V.

What you’re doing is plugging a power supply into the wall that turns the wall voltage into the correct voltage for the device.

You need a power supply with an input voltage of 230 and output of 24dc (most likely dc but check the device to confirm). The power supply needs an adequate power rating too.

Without a link to what you’re looking to buy I can’t recommend anything specific.

Unless the device in China provides one as part of the order, you would need to puchase an AC adapter, you know, the type of adapters that come with wifi routers or toys, you plug the adapter into the mains socket and plug the other end into the device. Basically something equivalent to this:

Would suggest you don't buy their gadget.
Like the person who phoned up our helpdesk during a powercut and complained bitterly that their computer was no longer working, sometimes the red flags are literally there for all to see that this is going to end in tears.

I don't see any "red flags". Everything you get these days is from China.

OP: There are many 24V power supplies on Amazon but you need to know how what you're getting will be connected to it as well its current requirements .

A big issues is going to be the plug itself. There's a whole slew of shapes and sizes. The wrong one and it won't work. Another issue is going to be polarity. You want to make sure you've got positive going to positive and negative to negative. There should be symbols on the manufacturers label. Which indicate the polarity of the connectors.

If this doesn't come with the power adapter. I would avoid it. It'll be a huge pain and you may run through several adapters. Plus they aren't cheap. Sure there's cheap ones. But they probably aren't UL listed and fire hazards.

You just need a 24V power supply with the an adequate current rating.

The questions, some of them might be what kind of a plug does it have, does it come with a power supply, or does it have just a wire, and you need a 230v/24v converter? Based on what you said, I’d want to buy something easily returnable. :)

Thank you so much for all the advises. Below is the link of my intended purchase. I think am getting there. There is no adaptor included, so I need to get a transformer/aka adaptor sort of stepping down. Correct?

I’m looking at that pin connector and have to ask, where is the power source and why don’t they have one listed next to it or a reference to one. :)

I would avoid purchasing this item because in my professional opinion as someone who repairs electronic devices this item looks to be a spare parts item, something you would purchase to replace a faulty one. Why? well, look at the rubber bung on the wire, this is a tell tell sign that the bung is supposed to fit into some housing. I think this item is actually a spare part for a electrical humidifier and they are misselling it. My opinion, avoid it, purchase a proper humidifier.

With respect. I disagree.

It has a fairly standard power connector.

There’s a couple listed below. Same item with power supply for £5

Personally I’d buy a decent power supply from a UK supplier though

Ah, I see them now, first time did not scroll all the way down such as:
I supposed they didn't include the adaptor so as to reduce price to attract. I'm also not aware initially until I posted the query here. Some seller has both. Now am looking for one that sell complete set. Learned so much. Ask me abt photography I can talk whole day. Lol
