iCloud Photo Library already defaults to storing only size-optimized copies of photos on devices. For instance, your iPhone will store only relatively tiny images compared to your iPad or Mac. The Watch will default to only downloading extremely low-resolution versions of your images, around 500x500 pixels, I'm guessing. It's already seamless on all devices.

No, thats not how it works. It will download thumbnails of your photos then grab actual size versions to fit the screen as needed. It will also keep (onboard) near full sized versions of images that you favorite.

I have well over 25GB of music on my iPhone heh. I may reduce the quality to fit more on my apple watch.

The thing is, you won't *need* to put much music on Watch. Only enough for your workouts, which is about the only time you'll be without iPhone. As long as Watch is connected to iPhone, it'll display all of the music that you have either stored locally on iPhone or on iTunes Match, and Watch will serve as a remote for music playback from iPhone.

Thumbnails are kept locally, yes, but when you tap on an image either on your iOS or WatchOS device, a relatively small image will be downloaded unless you choose to download the full-resolution image. These relatively smaller images are suitable for viewing on your particular device. They will be cleared as they are just cached files whenever you need more storage freed.

I had my appointment at the Apple store today and we discussed this. You can jog without having your iPhone and it will keep track of your stats and upload them back to the iPhone when you are back within range of it.

It will always show time, whether or not it is paired.

You can load music to the Watch from your iPhone and play it without being in range of your phone - I am not sure how many Gb of storage are on the Watch.

I assume that this just applies to Apple's fitness app on the watch and not third party fitness trackers?

Again somewhat true. The algorithm is much more sophisticated than just that. If you have not used iCloud Photo Library on your phone (in optimized mode) give it a shot. While yes is does clear as needed... favorites (as they are able to dependent on space available) are prioritized for keeping and as you swipe through images if the device recognizes a pattern (i.e. you are moving through your photos start -> finish) it will start pulling larger versions of the next few image as you are swiping to attempt to reduce delay.

don't use iCloud, I don't want my boobs to be all over the internet.

If it's 2gb for music then I'm cutting close...

1.9GB of music? That's it?

So the watch cant play music through its speaker? So the only way is to use bt headphones?

I would have liked to have the option to just use the internal speaker even if not too loud

That's my plan. My thought is to reduce the quality just so I can fit more. I'm really excited about it. I'm having problems finding headphones for the apple watch tho. I think I'll create a separate post asking about that.

I did set up an appointment to check it out but I'm thinking of canceling it. I'm one of those people that likes to be surprised. Plus I feel driving out there for a 15 minute appointment plus 30 minutes of driving to be a waste of time.

I don't store everything on my phone... I pick what I transfer.

True. But when you think about it you won't be able to hear the speakers outside anyways when jogging.

I used mine at the gym and find they work great. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1429018531.332570.jpg They stay in place and don't get in the way at all.

1) Bluetooth headset to listen to music, music will not play through internal speaker.

2) Watch can show time without a phone and even preform as a fitness tracker without the phone (after your phone has been paired with the activity app for multiple workouts, the workout app has to get accustomed to how your heart rate and movements coincide with one another, once it learns your body, your phone can be left while you use the watch strictly as the fitness tracker).

There is a speaker and microphone they stated it on the website.

AFAIK

1) Yes, it has some simple stand alone function, including as a music player. And you can set the watch to power saving mode, which basically make it behave like a traditional watch. No other functions, but will able to show you the time with very little battery consumption.

2) You can only store up to 2G of music at this moment, and it's stored in the internal flash memory, not the RAM. Even though the iPhone 6+ only has 1G of RAM.

3) Yes, it has internal speaker.

4) The Bluetooth headset should work, but if situation allowed, I will prefer to pair that up with the phone.
