OEM Replacement LCD

these are OEM Replacement LCD's. I do not use the aftermarket parts. as far as the flag...I have no idea! but the yellow and blue must have something to do with the color you are seeing. my guess is your phone has been fixed with a OEM lcd and it is fine. there are just 2 different manufacturers. I have replaced 100's and have never noticed a difference and never had a customer question it. I almost always use the cheaper of the two.

my point is that your iPhone is fine its just a different manufacturer than was originally in the phone.

what? what i meant to say is, my screen is OEM, it wasnt a replacement, and what do you mean by flag?

i think he means that there is a possibility of two separate LCD modules

one LCD has a yellow white balance and has better viewing angles/contrast

the other LCD has a blue white balance and has the problems that you have mentioned

for the record, my LCD replacement is on the yellow side, but compared to other iPhone's i have seen the white balance is actually quite neutral ( very similar to my 24" Apple ACD)

Ya what he said..........

hrm so, nothing is wrong with my phone's screen? you think its just manufactured like this? the screen assembly looks very LEGIT looked like nothing was tampered, the black tape was never taken apart to remove the screen screws, nor does the cables show any wear/tear, but still it upsets me how my screen reflects such blue hue color when something black is shown, UGH!

to be honest it sounds to me that the display is fine, and its just how the "blue tint" 3gs displays are

only way to confirm this is for you to find another iPhone 3GS with a blue tint

a) if their phone also has the problem, than this is just how the phone is
b) if their phone doesn't have the problem, it could be your LCD display

Keep us posted, but OP that's it, there's nothing else we can help you with, the rest of the work is up to you

ok lets everyone quit trying to confuse this person.

THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOUR IPHONE. THERE ARE TWO DIFFERENT TYPES OF LCD's THAT APPLE USES.

I cant make it any clearer than that. I just got a brand new 3Gs yesterday from Apple and it has blue tint like you are describing. its just like on another thread where guy is asking about his logic board being green and all he has seen are blue ones.

Apple has several different manufacturers for each product of the iPhone so some will be colored different.

I totally agree, the blue apple screen is atrocious & I will keep taking it back to apple until they see fit installing the same quality screen that was in there to start with (as well as in all other iphones i've had and/or people around me). I do not think its just me being picky - it truly is annoying to look at and utterly spoils the iphone experience.

yup, at least you can still return yours; i cant. mines so bad that the only way for me to get the good image is if i was to look at the iphone straight up and head on, if i lean my iphone slightly at any angle i would get the washed blue look. so annoying!!!

AppleCare rep asked me to go to a different Apple Store and get another screen replacement - just in case they had different stock. They would have offered me a new phone, but I have an Italian phone (factory unlocked) which will only be replaced in the country of origin....

Anyhow, I booked another genius bar appointment - now at Brent Cross in London. They where very helpful and upon reading all case notes agreed to change the screen again just to see if it different (they cannot tell any difference from the spare part numbers, and no manufacturers mark). Result! Looks like I was lucky and they had the high contrast 'yellow' tint replacement screen that matches the original...all back to normal!!! ;-)

Mikee, have you checked your serial if its still under warranty? Otherwise apple store do replace the screen for £130 flat-rate (might be a bit much?)

Good luck!

There is no such thing as an oem iPhone LCD/digitizer assembly for devices sold by apple or other manufacturers as these companies (especially apple) do not sell parts to anyone from their factories, all parts sold by and through third party's are aftermarket, your best bet is ebay, however, not all aftermarket parts are up to standard. If you don't want to pay apples ridiculous out of warranty fees here is the absolute best quality front assemblies I've found for 4/4S black or white
