so I understand everything you guys are saying. I really like the mac computers and woun't want to go with refurbished stuff, I don't trust it. I like the 15.4 in screen and I do understand it isn't much bigger but it is somewhat. I am at the moment concerned about weather I should spend the extra grand just for the bigger screen. I pretty confused as to what to do. This computer will be my only computer since I am going to be moving out of my house. So I guess that is why I want to get a good computer. I was even considering the imac's but then again I might need to move around with the computer to school or whereever so that was a no no. I also am not starting school till august so i will probably wait for the upgraded one if there are any.
One last thing do you guy think that I should get a protection plan that cost about 350 dollars for the computer that I get. I want to know what the warranty on these laptops are if you don't get the plan.

My question is really similar to his and I didnt feel like posting a new thread just for it so

Is there really a big difference in the 2.2 and 2.4 models? Does 252 MB graphics really make a difference? I will be doing graphic editing/photo-editing. Will 128 MB suffice? Just wanted to know so I can choose the baseline one when they come out with the new MBP(that is if they do not upgrade the graphic cards.)

you get a 1 year warranty, 90 days of phone support with the computer. just depends... applecare has been worth it for me, but if you're lucky and don't have any problems then i guess it's not worth it.

it's nice to have peace of mind though.

Can we get the MBP and then get the protection plan at a later date if need be.

Yes, that's what I did on my MB. I bought the computer, and then bought the Applecare 4 months later.

Seriously, though, go for a MB. The screen isn't that small, and if you really need a bigger screen, get a monitor. Laptops are supposed to be small.

But really just can't live without that slightly larger screen, get a low-end refurbished MBP, I guess. Refurbished are guaranteed by Apple the same as their brand new computers.

A quick note is to try and make sure that, if you decide not to buy AppleCare with your notebook, you buy it within the first and initial 1 year warranty that Apple provides if you do decide to buy it. I'm not sure what happens if you buy AppleCare later than the first year and try to register it, I don't think it will work though.

The protection plan should only cost $239 with the Apple Education Store discount. Are you familiar with this discount? You can get your base MBP for $1799 as opposed to $1999 as well.
