Hello, I'm very new to the Apple world so please excuse me if I sound like I have no clue what I'm talking about. I have an early 2008 MacBook 2.4, 5GB ram Running 1TB Storage. I would like to upgrade to OS Yosemite or if possible even OS El Capitan. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm pretty green to this. So not sure what they mean with some of it. Would that be as good as it gets for a step by step?
Are you still looking for any help?
El Capitan run's nicely on my early 2008 2,4GHz c2duo MBP.
But I'd highly recommend an SSD for smooth performance.
Nothing more to do than a download installation from the MacAppStore.

El Capitan is not supported on the 2008 MacBook. You have a MacBook Pro.
