I already visited the apple store that is close to my house; however, they don't carry the Hi-res antiglare macbook :(

this appears to be the trend now... only base config is available - same online. you have to bto what used to be the more powerful option.

simply looking at the air gives an idea of the pixel density - then notice the reflection of the air screen - hi res doesn't have that
 
Which one is better?

I've seen both side by side on my patio. Anti-glare does a much better job but, I think the Retina does a good enough job that it's better in my opinion.

The retina's resolution plus the reduction in glare over the normal glossy won me over because my time spent outside won't exceed time spent inside. Now, I just to to get over the non-upgradability of the rMBP.
