need help with VLC - the program keeps freezing

for the last 24 hours, my copy of VLC keeps freezing / crashing / not playing properly. I have to force quit, and then it never gets better. I tried removing the program (using APP CLEANER) and reinstalling, but no luck.

any suggestions? APP CLEANER removed the old 'helper files' too (preferences & caches etc.), I believe

very grateful for any suggestions. VLC is my bread-and-butter. I used it every day for virtual presentations over zoom etc.

I also have ELMEDIA VIDEO PLAYER, but it's not as flexible - for one thing, ELMEDIA won't let me play JPEGs and still images etc.

A similar problem was solved by removing VLC with AppDelete (http://www.reggieashworth.com/appdelete.html)

thanks! I just waited a few hours, and (the new install) of VLC NOW seems to be working. I will try APP DELETE if and when the problem occurs again. thank YOU!

thank you - I will also give that a try. I have found nothing is better than VLC so far, mainly because of the way it lets you use a playlist, and other fine points, but I am always eager to try something new! (what I really need is something more like what an audio deejay would use, with video files.)
