You sound like a young buck, so you should be able to pack the weight of a 17" if that floats your boat.

Personally, I believe in light weight over the long haul. During my career as an airline pilot, I've packed many laptops and for my money, if it weighs over 3 pounds, forgetaboutit. Of course, I was packing a couple extra bags as well and some of those terminal had some pretty long wings in them.

Now when I travel, I carry my Acer netbook. However, a couple of days ago I bought a new MB Pro 15" for cruising around my home. I doubt it will ever leave the house unless its on the way to visit an Apple Genius for a problem.

While not germane to this post, I also took a gander at the iPad, thinking maybe it would replace my Acer netbook. From what I've seen so far, I think I'll stick with my Acer.

not really much of a difference...I'd go 17.

What a nice couple. :)

I do find my 15" MBP a little more convenient to carry around, but the screen real estate of its bigger brother can be a big plus.

How could you live with an Acer netbook is well beyond my understanding ...
If you really need a light computer, why not a Macbook Air ?
