OK so answer is no then, Its not simple like a pc where you can just upgrade the cpu no problem.
The motherboard after about 15 seconds from powering on a red light comes on, on the motherboard what does that mean?

The motherboard has a red light next to the cpu's what does this mean?
I believe it is the RAM not found light. There is a list of code lights at this link:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2652
The 2.5 is a late 2005 model so follow this knowledge base article.

Ok cool I will check into that in a bit, but I went back to the 2.3 g5 the one that kept only seeing 1 cpu cpu0. So I took out the cpu's both of them again and put on better thermal compound artic silver 5 still might not be the best out there but I am sure better than a generic one I put on last night. In doing that I also swap the cpu's so I put the suppose bad cpu1 which Is the bottom one to the top, and top to bottom.
Well interesting it does boot up and shows a display image the gray apple logo screen, its not booting up the OS though. maybe OS is glitch up and corrupt dont know, but it loads up open firmware fine, and loaded up ASD 2.5.8 service disk. Speaking of ASD interesting again that it still shows only 1 cpu which is cpu0. So seems like both cpu's are good maybe bad motherboard? Can some bad ram cause a cpu not to work? Thanks

Unless Im missing something in that red light guide, the red light I see on the lcs 2.5 g5 is near next to the cpu's, not at those ram slots area.

That would be indicative of a bad main Logic Board. However, I would be checking the pins on the Logic Board. If they appear dirty, the best you can do is used compressed air at a safe distance (to prevent liquid condensation) to blow them out. Ensure no CPU paste is on the actual white/yellow pin connections on the logic board.
If that fails, you can always go for a new Logic Board, or sell the machine.
I was just coming on right now to let everyone know that I think something is up with the motherboard, because I did quick research last night and seems these g5 boards have similar issue to the xbox 360's where the solder on certain components dont have a connection no more. So i found out that the g5's have common issues of the ram slots solder and that chip in the middle area of the board the one that communicates with most all components on the board like the rams, cpu, etc etc.
So what im going to do is remove the board and heatgun reflow all areas of the common issues. Im going to do the same to the lcs 2.5 g5 and see if that boots up.
I'll report back maybe tonight see what happens.
Start with the 2.3. I think that the 2.5 is classic LCS leak so low coolant and some corrosion.
Yea the 2.3 first...... Speaking of the 2.5 Visually i didn't see leakage evidence. When I turn on the 2.5 about 15 seconds or so the red light comes on by the cpu's, someone said and researching seems to be overheating issue. But lets say there's no fluids in the lcs, does the cpu's get really hot just in 15 seconds from being on? If so that doesn't make sense because the red light comes on every time at the same seconds interval, its like the motherboard has a set time of seconds countdown then the red light turns on. If it was indeed and overheating situation wouldn't the time/seconds be different every time upon starting it up?
How do you check if there's fluid in the lcs anyways?
I think somethings up with the motherboard too on the 2.5 because the previous owner said sometimes randomly it will turn successfully to macosx and it would randomly shut down. Thanks
Latest update is both motherboards where no good even after attempting heatguning the chip-set and ram area, so I went on ebay couple days ago and saw a motherboard compatible with the 2.3ghz g5 and I won and got it for 16 bucks. I just installed it right now and booted right up i heard the audible apple sound upon turning on the g5 I never heard that on the 2 messed up boards previously, now im running a fan thermal calibration with the asd 2.5.8 disk.
Now I will look for a good deal on the 2.5ghz lcs g5 board next... Thanks
Glad to hear you could order one that was affordable. Keep us posted.
Yup so far good it did and passed the thermal fans calibration, I have more ram I can throw in it but now it has 1gb, youtube and and other websites that have videos works good with safari.
