When I moved to IL, I opened an account with Verizon and got a Droid so I could have a 'local' number. I kept my AT & T Maryland number and account. Verizon convinced me one day they could port my number and add it to my V account and save me money *cough, choke* yeah, right. I just recently ported my number back to AT & T because I missed my iPhone. It plays well with my MacBook Pro and iPad. Go with the iPhone!

I feel ya

I live in the quad cities and switched from is cellular to ATT simply for the iPhone. ATT service is just fine around the quad cities. I haven't had any problems at all with service. Since I got my first iPhone a few years ago I will admit I would have a very hard time switching to another phone. I would recommend the iPhone, I know ATT may not be the best but I've never had any probs. So you might as well base your decision on the phone you want.

I would get the iphone because its GSM. I don't know how you are with your stuff, but I know when I was in college I took pretty crappy care of my stuff and the odds of something happening to your iphone (like at a party or getting stolen) are greater, so at least with the iphone if something were to happen you could just go out and get a $20 go phone from walmart and use your sim in, but on sprint if something were to happen to the EVO, you would be stuck paying a couple of hundred dollars just for a flip phone to use, and even if you didn't replace the phone you would still be liable for the monthly bill (I know, it happened to me when I was on verizon many years ago).

Also the iPhone will impress the ladies.:D

UScellular? My friend from school has that and said it doesnt work in a lot of other places in the country, pretty much only down south where he lives

I'm going around to the different stores later today after work to play with the phones and to narrow down my decision.

if you want a smartphone then get the iphone.
battery life and the quality and quanitity of apps are just better atm.
android will likly catch up or they can flirt with some big companys untill then(2-5 years maybe)
the iphone is just better.

You're not going to run into a lot of people that regret an iPhone purchase. They have the highest customer satisfaction because the iOS is still far more polished than Andriod.

Get one and don't look back.

Impressed

I went to the AT&T store today and played with the iPhone and I fell in love with it. The only downside will be waiting for it since I'm not fully ready to purchase it yet. I played with Android and it was ok. As soon as I picked up the iPhone 4 I fell in love. It is my next phone and I can't wait to order it. Now I will wait for payday before I place an order....

Didnt read everything posted here so if its been said then sry for saying it again.... Just make sure AT&T reception is really good where you use it at... If the reception gets to 3 bars and I have to hold the phone... Since I hold it "wrong" I am likely to drop a call.... If I am at 4-5bars I usually wont drop... iPhone would have not been my first choice considering the reception issues with them and ATT but the other things it does fits my needs more than the other options.

Why? The reason why I'm leaning to the iPhone right now is because I love my MacBook, and my iPad and everything will just work better, but I just don't like the idea of switching or AT&T but if I have to I might...

Find out what other iPhone users in your area think about AT&T's service. I generally don't have a problem here but have friends elsewhere who have issues.

If your iPhone-using friends have little bad to say about AT&T, it's clear you'll be happiest with the iPhone.

I think with you going to college you will find 200 texts is not nearly sufficient with the social life your likely to adapt soon, and that eventually you will have to upgrade to more texts, hence more costs, etc. just something to consider.
