I’m a die hard Apple fan, but I ended up going with a fairly inexpensive 4K Roku TV by TCL, and I’m very happy with it. I discovered that I could sync my iTunes movies with the Movies Anywhere app, so I can watch all of them on the Roku tv, along with using all the regular third party apps, like Hulu, Netflix, YouTube. In haven’t felt any need to get an Apple TV box for the bedroom. And Roku is also supposed to be entering a deal with Apple for AirPlay support.

Yeah I ditto your comments but I do use with with AppleTV and XBOX. TV is nothing more than a hdmi Switch..

The problem using Airplay2 within the TV is you have to have your TV connected to wifi which means you are being tracked.

I think a better solution is to have TV wifi off and connect to an Apple TV for streaming. Just my .02 if you care about stuff like that.

I think Airplay 2 will be a good "portable solution", or for people who do relatively little streaming. But if you're a heavy Netflix user or the like, you'll probably want an Apple TV, rather than keeping your iPhone or iPad plugged in and running for hours on end.

Is Roku going to get the new Apple TV+ service?

Is QLED or OLED important?
Budget is <=$1000 (give or take).

OLED HDR is absolutely stunning, but the LG 55" at $1500 (cheapest an OLED has ever been, started out at >
$10K) is over your budget. QLED comes close. Absolutely worth it if you can swing it.

What does airplay2 do for the TV? Is it an advisable feature?

If you want to send content from another device such as an iPhone or iPad it could be useful.

I have an Apple TV 4K. Would airplay2 on the TV still be an advantage?

As a brand, are LG TV’s worth considering?

Thanks,
