Just got my Logitech circle doorbell in last week. Supports HomeKit secure video, way cheaper, quality is amazing, and no stupid apps to install,
it just works. Although HomeKit notifications need to support a quick way to mute for 30 or 60 minutes, like my Ring door bell did.

There are no hidden costs after purchase. All features along with video storage are available without subscription at all times. View videos of people who have rung your bell and anything that has happened on your doorstep directly in the app via your smartphone or tablet.

Local storage of your videos on the included microSD card.

Videos stored on a microSD card... good luck with viewing videos if someone steals the doorbell.

I can’t understand the concept of mounting an expensive item to the outside surface of your front wall. It would be extremely easy for someone to pry it off the wall since it is surface mounted. A peep hole mounted camera makes way more sense as it is secured through the door and on the inside. Before LivePD got cancelled, they showed the video of a thief stealing a similar item.

also wondered about the same. I don’t think they are useable if stolen, similar to iphones but not every thief knows that. I believe Amazon will replace its doorbell for free when stolen which is certainly a differentiator.

do you have any mechanical background noise when watching any recordings? Been using their indoor cameras for a while, replaced the first batch but keep having mechanical noise on my recordings. The microphones are picking up some mechanical noise from inside the camera which is very irritating.

Have the Logitech HKSV doorbell. It’s great, high quality video, HKSV from day 1 and not a “promise”, and $100 cheaper.

and don’t forget that Netatmo still hasn’t added 2FA auth to their accounts so they clearly don’t care about customer security.

almost 3 years later and this is what they deliver. SMH

Can’t anyone just create a camera that connects to existing doorbell‘s? I don’t want to replace my wired doorbell and some people can’t use these if they have HOA’s plus they’re easy to steal.

A camera that can be mounted out of reach that connects to a wired or wireless doorbell would be the best option. Until then, these all-in-one smart doorbells seem antithetical to their purpose.

Netatmo has pending Homekit Secure Video support for their outdoor camera for about 1,5 years now.
That outdoor camera also came with a hefty price tag, so by that logic this doorbell can have this price. ;)
Does their camera not work with Homekit, as described on their website? I'm considering Netamo cameras, as they appear decently architectural, instead of the white plastic stuff from too many others. The Logitech may function okay, but that's not a look I'm going for without some spray paint.

I have 3x of the Netatmo Presence cameras and this doorbell and frankly they are worth the premium pricing for local storage alone and the support from Netatmo is second

They all work seamlessly with HomeKit and GoogleHome setups I have within my home and couldn’t be happier.

Plus unlike Ring and many other doorbell cams they utilise the existing low voltage wiring whereas the Ring uses either batteries or needs a massive hole drilling for the fly lead.

My only minor gripe is the limitation to 2.4ghz networks but I have a separate access point in the home just for smart devices so there is no compromise of the “master” router.
Support from Netatmo? How did you manage to get support?

I have 2 tickets outstanding - one now for 5 years and another for 2 weeks. No response at all.

I looked at the Netatmo doorbell - but due to their lack of response - I canned the idea very quickly.

The cameras all work with HomeKit. The indoor camera also supports HomeKit Secure Video, which is the additional support for iCloud storage of video and object/person recognition done with the compute power of a Home Hub (Apple TV 4th gen, ATV 4K, HomePod, or iPad).

The outdoor camera and doorbell do not yet support HomeKit Secure Video, but they can do person/object recognition using their own built-in algorithms, which aren't bad. However, that functionality happens in the Netatmo Security app instead of the Apple Home app. HomeKit Secure Video is coming to both, the outdoor camera and the doorbell, in a future firmware release.

The Netatmo cameras have basic HomeKit integration. With the outdoor camera (the Presence) you can for example:
  1. use its motion sensor to create automations that trigger other HomeKit compatible devices
  2. Control the floodlight from HomeKit automations and Apple Home app
The outdoor camera doesn’t have support for HomeKit Secure video yet. So you can’t for example
  1. Automatically save the recording to iCloud
  2. do automations / notifications based on the person recognized (people you tagged in Photos app)

Not that I’ve noticed, maybe a slight hum, can’t tell if it’s just highway noise from the street behind us or not. The speaker when talking to someone is very quite, but I never use that feature anyway

The Logitech Circle is way better looking, has a wider field of view (160 deg) and costs $100 less. Also the facial recognition that the Logitech does is a neat feature. Does the Netamo do that too?
I think it may be Homekit powering the facial recognition.

But either way, $100 less, available immediately.

What good does local storage do you if it is in the doorbell? If the Oceans-11 Heist team is sharp enough to hack into your online account and erase the footage of them looting your iPad, they would probably know enough to yank the doorbell off the wall.

I have the Logitech, and I like the way it works.

To all those complaining their doorbell is going to be stolen. Time to move. (;

Any idea when Logitech is being released in Canada? I want a video doorbell badly but it has to be HomeKit enabled.

I tweeted them, they asked me to DM them. They then rang me - problem sorted - all within about 90mins.

to all those saying the doorbell will be stolen ... where do you all live where people are actively stealing doorbells!!??

plus it’s not like they’re particularly easy to steal considering they’re bolted to wall and wired in - unlike, of course, the battery powered competitor(s)

In my opinion, the best smart doorbell is the Nest Hello. It's the smallest / prettiest IMO, it records 24/7 (not only when it detects motion), and if it's stolen Google sends you a free replacement https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9269698?hl=en

The Ring doorbells are large and ugly, and the battery-powered versions don't record 24/7, which in my opinion is a huge disadvantage.

This Netatmo doorbell integrates with HomeKit (yay!) but it's going to be difficult for guests to know where to press (nay). I'm glad that it has the option to record continuously.

This. Exactly this. Why is this so hard for designers to do??

What an unfortunate design. I'd be tempted to press the Camera viewport thinking that was the button. It's not clear (to me) that the lower 1/3rd is the actual button.

You can use Dropbox or an FTP server currently. HSV coming soon / they’ve delivered it on Presence so I don’t see why they won’t deliver it here.

It works perfectly with HomeKit - just not HomeKit Secure Video currently. Someone rings, your Homepods will ring, and the video will appear on the AppleTV. Integration is excellent.

Actually having one, and other Netatmo devices, tells me they are very well made and have a classy design.

Does it come with an angled mount like the Logitech? There is a 14" panel with a frosted glass panel between our door and doorbell, so I'd like to slightly angle the camera.
