It does look like a quality product, and has a nice chime if the video I saw is to be believed. I don't really have a need for one because there's always someone in the house in these days of lockdown. But perhaps next year...

A couple of years ago I got a Ring doorbell on an impulse purchase. I never got as far as installing it because it looks kind of cruddy. But the main thing is the awful chime that it makes. It sounds like one of those horrible Christmas cards that plays an electronic tune. They insist on playing that terrible noise on TV adverts and it really gets on my nerves. I put mine in the bin.

The Logitech Circle is way better looking, has a wider field of view (160 deg) and costs $100 less. Also the facial recognition that the Logitech does is a neat feature. Does the Netamo do that too?
The Logitech Circle also has a max operating temp of 104F (unless you feed it 24VAC, then it's 113F) and people in Florida and Arizona are already complaining about the thing shutting down when it's in direct sun. Imagine what'll happen in Arizona when the ambient temperature exceeds the doorbell's max operating temp every day all summer long.

In addition, during installation, I discovered that you must abandon your rear door bell if you want to use Logitech's chime module. That's absurd. I returned mine.

I also have this doorbell installed for about two weeks now. It‘s beautiful, but it has some software issues. For me it’s not useable as a security camera, since the camera starts recording way too late. From the sidewalk to my front door is about 4-5 meters, and it only records the back of my quickly walking mailman. The doorbell first waits a couple of seconds, then starts processing whether it’s a person or not, and then starts recording. There is no prerecording buffer like any other security camera.... This wouldn’t be that big of a deal, if there was an rtsp-stream available, so my NAS could handle the motion detection. But there isn’t, also not on the roadmap according to Netatmo’s support.

When someone presses the doorbell, you get a notification on your iPhone. If you tap that, it opens the app. You don’t get a call like a regular call, Whatsapp, Skype, Teams or whatever. The notification doesn’t always grab your attention when it needs to do.

Homekit works well, I get a live feed on my Apple TV when someone rings the bell. That’s nice! Also the motion sensor (software detection..) of the doorbell integrates with homekit. But, the button of the doorbell doesn’t. That’s a pitty as well. At this time you can’t let your domotica hub pause your music/tv, turn on/off anything when someone rings the bell.

And unfortunately there is no way to turn off the chime at times, like at night, or during the day after I worked a nightshift.

I still like the doorbell, as it has no monthly fees, and my recordings are stored locally. But there is a lot of software development to do, which is a shame after all the delays. It was announced early 2019!! If someone has any questions, let me know.

So many devices now want your wifi password...it’s getting crazy...even some refrigerators want your WiFi password. I guess it will only get worse. Good or Bad?
I have the Netamo thermostate - and it comes with its own bridge (so now i have an Ikea Bridge and a Netamo Bridge)
well it was really easy to set up, just scan the QR and done (gues i just gave it my password)
but the real worry comes when i found out it also have some sort of funnel through my network to the outside - since i can adjust the temperature outside my own network via the app. (if i only could us that funnel to also controll the IKEA blinds and lamps)

so on the positive side : WEE it was super easy
on the negative side : WTF you just punched a huge hole in my security, and you did not even tell me about this.

Don't hold your breath for this one. This one is dead in the water. I have returned it after 2 months of frustration, missed deliveries, reinstalls, lousy 720p Video, black & white night vision, no motion detection pre-roll etc. The only thing I liked is the physical design and the responsiveness of their Support. I expect they get it right at some point, but it has taken them already 2 years to get this far (not)...

I have now the Logitech, and whilst not perfect yet and not as pretty as the Netatmo, it works much better then the Netatmo. 1080P video with color night vision, stupid "steal me" status led can be switched off, well build Homekit integration (including HSV), notifications on my iPhone are sometimes a hit and miss (works fine on other devices) and their support is terrible. But I saved about 100 euro's..

Nope, is part of HSV logic. Logitech does indeed a decent job with the Facial Recognition. However I have the feeling it sometimes ignores the Activity Zone setting and responds to a wider area.

In my opinion, the best smart doorbell is the Nest Hello. It's the smallest / prettiest IMO, it records 24/7 (not only when it detects motion), and if it's stolen Google sends you a free replacement https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9269698?hl=en

The Ring doorbells are large and ugly, and the battery-powered versions don't record 24/7, which in my opinion is a huge disadvantage.

This Netatmo doorbell integrates with HomeKit (yay!) but it's going to be difficult for guests to know where to press (nay). I'm glad that it has the option to record continuously.
The Google doorbell...that’s a mess since google bought nest. Visitor rings the doorbell and maybe 45 seconds later, you can see who is there and this is on the LAN! Ask the community about this and google closes your ticket.

The Netatmo is available for me to order now in Canada and will look less techie at the entrance of my house. A big plus imo.

I can’t understand the concept of mounting an expensive item to the outside surface of your front wall. It would be extremely easy for someone to pry it off the wall since it is surface mounted. A peep hole mounted camera makes way more sense as it is secured through the door and on the inside. Before LivePD got cancelled, they showed the video of a thief stealing a similar item.
Lol..

To all those complaining their doorbell is going to be stolen. Time to move. (;

Any idea when Logitech is being released in Canada? I want a video doorbell badly but it has to be HomeKit enabled.
Hey. I just bought the Logitech using my RBC Visa (used the ship forwarding service as my billing address and it worked fine) and then used ship forwarding service myus.com. I had it waiting for a homekit doorbell. Netatmo has been excrucuatingly slow. I paid $50 for shipping and duty. So for $260USD it was worth it. Frankly, I didnt want to wait any longer. Its not like people would ring my doorbell anyway, but I have had a wire hanging loose since I built my house and moved in a year ago. That my us service is pretty slick.

Dude, no offense but that’s just TL;DR.
Perhaps it’s only TLDR because you quoted me twice? 😂

Honestly I don’t understand why you’d actually take the time to write “TLDR“ as a response when all I’m trying to do is to post helpful feedback for potential purchasers?

If you haven‘t got the short attention span required to read my post, just move on. Dude.

I installed it three weeks ago. Very happy about it.

- Installation is relatively easy. The 2-piece hardware approach is great for "brownfield" installation. My house is from 1936, including the doorbell wiring, and it just works without problems.
- Cloud connection to the camera works fast and responsive (TADAAM internet, Belgium).
- Homekit integration is ok. You get a popup when it rings, or when somebody is seen through the camera
- After I saw the beauty of all the recordings, i decided to attach a NAS to it which works great (WD MyUltra 4TB).

Improvement points on the camera:
- Cloud video and facial recognition from Homekit not available yet
- I miss a smaller version of the Netatmo Outdoor camera in their lineup, to complete the online surveillance (I don't like to have 7 different vendors).

Improvements on Homekit:
- The absence of relevant scenario's for doorbells is stunning... If the doorbell rings, i expect to receive the video signal immediately on my iphone, and there should be an "open door" function to activate the smartlock (Yale Linus in my case). Apple just throws sensor notifications at the user, and even basic usecase are lacking...

Is your smart lock and doorbell in the same "room" in HomeKit?

I originally had my lock on the inside room and the doorbell on a room called "porch" for the front outside of the house. The lock and camera have to be in the same room in HomeKit for the unlock option to be presented as a part of the HomeKit doorbell notification.

Actually they are. Cant really find a configuration option (either in Homekit app, or in Netatmo app)

That's odd. There isn't any configuration you can do for it. It appears that it just assumes if a lock and doorbell are in the same room, the lock unlocks the door where the doorbell is.

I'm not sure why you're not seeing the option in the doorbell ring notifications from the Home app. I have an August lock at the door where the doorbell is, but other than that should be the same as what you're describing. When I expand out the notification there's a video feed and a button below the video to unlock the door.
