$7 for 4-5 minute ads, 720p for netflix where all the exciting netflix tv shows have pretty. much all wrapped up

You’re going to pay only $3 less and subject yourself to ads? Who is this for?
In the current economic climate with inflation a continuing pressure on many households, a lot of people are struggling to make ends meet -- and a few bucks saved here or there can help. And I know a lot would say that Netflix (and other similar services) are luxuries that can be sacrificed, but TV is central to many households' lives and Netflix is the biggest name in that mix. So I am glad they are making additional options available to those for whom those $3 make even a small difference. Don't know what it will me for their subscriber trend and how big that group is. But I am in no way harmed by them doing this and some people benefit.

Me - having literally worked on shows submitted to Netflix.
Might be (though probably not), still means you have no clue what you're talking about. No shows have been filmed in 1080p for ages (if ever though because the transition more or less was from actual film to 4k digital cameras and more) ,so I don't even know what professional camera equipment you would use to film in actual 1080P in 2022 (or in the years before).

So again you have zero clue what you're talking about and I would suggest you stop embarrassing yourself.

Only other grossly overpriced with vastly subpar content next to HBO Max. Neither of them offer content nearly worth the money they’re asking for their highest tier.

I have this revolutionary idea for saving money called public transport. I estimate that cities with public transport can cut pollution, reduce traffic and save travel costs. Then they can buy better Macs and afford high tier gold level subscriptions.

In a few years Netflix will charge $13.99 for their 480p no-ads plan and say listen we have an ad-supported plan for only $9.99! What a bargain
And if you can’t afford it then so what? Do you want government regulation of entertainment prices?

Soon you’ll be able to get an enhanced basic package for $4.99 per month. For every hours worth of advertisements you’ll be able to watch between 4 and 5 minutes of a show or movie of your choosing.

Considering this happening Nov 3, Netflix is besting its rival Disney+ by one month, which is launching its ad-supported plan at $7.99 per month on December 8, in tandem with a price hike of its ad-free plan.

Ugh. This means Netflix originals will start being produced with ad breaks in mind. So even people who pay for ad-free will be affected.

Also, Netflix remains the only streaming provider charging more for 1080p and then even more for 4K. They should join the present and offer best picture quality to all subscribers.

LMAO what? 1080p cameras are absolutely still in use depending on what the final output is for. My goodness. I'm gonna show this to my tech manager and we're gonna have a laugh but have a great day.

The $6.99 price point is for a price sensitive customer that may have a 1080p TV and a sub-25mb/sec connection. Or just a smartphone.
Yea even I forget people watch on their phones. My wife watches some videos, but I don't like to watch on my phone. iPad can be a little better, but I would much rather watch on a large screen TV.

The tens of millions who pay for Hulu's ad-supported plan. At least 60% of Hulu's 46.2 million subscribers (as of July 2, 2022) are on the ad-supported plan.

Then there are the tens of millions who pay for the ad-supported plans from HBO Max, Paramount+, Peacock, Discovery+, etc.

Netflix wouldn't be offering this if there wasn't demand for it. And that's why Apple may offer a similar ad-supported plan.
