You would be surprised.
I quit Netflix awhile back and have not missed it since.
Yeah but you think about Netflix from time to time.
You would be surprised.

Honest answer: because it may be more convenient for user x for any number of reasons. Why would anyone use Airplay to watch Netflix? Not being snarky. Honestly curious. Seems weird.
I didn’t know they canceled all the marvel shows. There’s no point in Netflix without those shows. I cancelled because of your comment haha.I just did that. I hope they will pull their heads out from the sand before it's too late. First they cancel all the Marvel Originals, now this? For me it's too much!
I agree. In our home AirPlay is only used to show videos that people have bookmarks on their personal devices. Most of those come from Social Media apps. Airplay is great but can't understand why people use it for everything. I see suggestion where some are using it as a 2nd monitor for a computer. Holy Crap the lag on that must be intense! Even if it's to hold the toolbars for Photoshop! There's probably 10 different ways one might watch Netflix, and AirPlaying is far away from what I'd probably go for. Streaming down my ethernet connection directly to the app on my console, tv app, apple tv, laptop, etc would be far more advantageous than AirPlay.
I'm really not understanding the panic and anger in this thread.
There are apple TVs in hotels now. More importantly there are apple TVs in my office. Just because there are apple TVs, though, doesn’t mean I have the ability to install apps on them. You’d need an Apple TV to do so, no? You just can’t airplay to a TV with no other device attached to it.
Do you carry your AppleTV around with you on trips?
A lot of hotels I’ve been in , ex. Hilton , their TVs are too old for airplay enabled TV.
Damned liars.Looks like Netflix is telling their customer service to blame Apple...
Netflix has just released a "mobile only" tier in some countries for a discounted price. I think this is one of the preventative measures for it.
No. Sonos One speakers are WiFi only. (They also lack physical inputs.)

I only have Netflix for Better Call Saul and Brooklyn 99. They’ve gotten rid of so many movies, and now that they’re acting in such a petty way to smite Apple but also customers, I’m not sure how much longer I’ll remain one.
I use Chromecast anyway.
$3.99 mobile only subscriptions Airplay to TV?
There’s a recurring theme in this thread:
Why don’t people use their tech the same exact way that I do? that’s just weird! why do they even need to do that?
Remember, everyone is different, has different priorities, different interests, and different ways of consuming tech. Just because it’s different from your mode does not make it wrong or irrelevant.
...
Damned liars.
Where have these “most popular complaints” been found? I haven’t seen them. I’ve seen “i can’t install apps on OTHER PEOPLE’S Apple TVs” not “on my Apple TV.” And what does storage space have to do with streaming, not downloading, videos? And who said anything about no network connection other than talking about situations where your internet may go down but you still have LTE, and why would that be Apple’s fault? Most popular complaint is "my apple tv has no network connection" or "I can't install apps on my apple tv" or "my apple tv doesn't have enough storage space to download videos"
Tim apple needs to innovate, needs to make a apple tv that just works.

You go to a friends house who doesn’t have a Netflix subscription? A hotel with an AirPlay capable TV?
I suppose you could log into your friends app, or a hotel’s smart TV app, but that’s a little more complex than just hitting AirPlay on your own logged-in phone.
